"Time enjoyed is never time wasted" If it makes you happy then do it. Fuck everyone else and what they may think. Now if you're playing video games to the point of it causing you to fail in other aspects of your life, then you may wanna reconsider. But if you want to sink 5 hours into a game, reading a book, going for a hike/bike ride, or whatever and it makes you happy. Then enjoy yourself. Allow yourself to have fun.

If she's on title it will depend on how you are both vested on it. Joint? Well then yeah she gets half. If you did the title where you both get ownership based on funds invested then you may have a leg to stand on for more than 50% equity. The deed/title will dictate how that shakes out but odds are you are both joint owners and therefore she owns half. Put the house on the market, sell and split the difference or figure out a way to buy her out

Go get yourself a first impression pill. No shame in it. Knock her socks off and bring a Gatorade for each of you. Use it a few times to leave that lasting impression. By then your mental state will have all the confidence it needs to spring your boy into action without assistance.

Depends on the age of the kids. If they're young, then it might be worth considering if you're having a separate party is for you or for your kids. I get not wanting to be around your ex, but if you guys can be cordial around each other and be there for your kids then do it. The quicker you can wrap your head around the fact that you're going to need to figure out how to positively coparent with each other for your kids the better for them. Because at the end of the day it's their best interest …

Get that in writing if you agree to it. Otherwise just file separately

If you guys are amicable and you would be in a worse position for filing jointly, just ask her to file separately.

If you have kids and she is their mom, then don't do it. Your temporary feel good isn't worth how it could change their perspective of you. Be the better human. Show your children how to be by example and they will see for themselves who is the parent that they want in their lives.

Can confirm. All of this is currently happening to me. Legal fees have broken me and I'm nowhere closer to seeing my kids than I was when this started.

Whatever custody/stipulation you have needs to have language included that each parent shall have the right to a daily phone/video chat on days that they don't have custody. Just be aware that she will get this access too. Which, realistically, both parents should be involved in the kids lives, assuming there's no abuse or anything to make it otherwise. Try asking if she wants to be able to talk with the kiddos when they're with you. See if you can figure out a solution that doesn't involve lawy…

I'm in a similar situation. Not as long though. She's doing everything she can to destroy my relationship with our daughter, who is about 2.5. But I can't let myself hate her, because that will just poison my own mentality and I need to be the best me I can for my little girl. Will I forgive my ex for what she's done? Probably not, but I know what kind of person she is and I'm fairly confident than in a decade I will be helping my daughter move into 100% custody with me, because my ex can't help…

Hey there, I'm about 6 months farther down the road than you are. A few things you REALLY need to consider. As far as your happiness is concerned, sure one life and all, and your son is already feeling the tension if there is any between you 2 in front of him. If you move out of state, you can pretty much kiss whatever relationship you have with your son goodbye. Even with video chats he isn't going to really grasp the concept of how that all functions and 15 minutes, even daily, won't begin to …

What a terrible situation for Bob. My heart breaks for him. A few things: 1. I'd probably tell him about the affair IF you know it for a fact. If it's what happened, it will suck, but waiting until he starts to get his head together and then dump that on him will most likely just break him all over again. Rip the bandaid off. But if it's a suspicion and not a know fact, then leave it be. It will come out eventually. As far as the concerns that he's done all this work and life building in vain...…
