No it's real but not that common. There's a rockstar named Oliver tree who has like 7 girlfriends. OP is right that women like successful men. Usually beggars can't be choosers, but if a guy has enough prestige he can have a harem of women in this day and age. If this becomes the norm it could seriously mess up social cohesion.
