I see your point, although vaccination is only a needle while circ first involves ripping the foreskin off from the head (attached the way a fingernail is to a finger) and then cutting off a part of its dick. You can probably see how much more brutal circ is compared to a vaccine.

One thing I found hilarious about the AAP was when it came to circumcision's effect on sexual function, they said that "it's hard to study." WTF, I'd say that's a major thing to take into consideration, and the KNMG, RACP, and College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia sure found the evidence compelling enough to mention it.

It wasn't until 1986 that the AAP said you needed to use anesthesia for infants undergoing surgery... before that, all that was given was a paralytic agent to keep the baby from moving.

I know, I was just responding to that NPR comment because I hear it all too often. 10 years? Wasn't it undertaken from 2007? Don't forget the CPS review, which found that 9 boys out of 1000 circumcised would benefit from circumcision, 12 would have moderately severe complications.

Are we comparing the most severe form done by some religious nut behind some bush vs type II MGM done in a sterile environment again? There are different forms, you know, and it is entirely unfair when someone screams "ITS NERT THER SEHM!" when a quick google search would show you that the clitoral hood is analagous to the foreskin, and that infibulation and piercing are no where near as severe, which the AAP tried to reintroduce and themselves said it is not as severe as male cutting.

I love how people selectively quote from their holy books. I've heard the Torah also said that it's your fathers obligation to circumcise you, and if he doesn't, then its your obligation when you're older.

It should also be mentioned that the foreskin is attached to the penis until about age 10, meaning you don't even need to retract it in order to clean it, while circumcising a baby leaves a fresh wound, allowing urine and feces to mix with it in the diaper.
