Where? When? I'm a man and a feminist and I have never heard this. If anything, I hear women complaining (rightfully) that men aren't as vulnerable and emotional as their partners would like them to be.

but there are logical conclusions that trigger the insecurities (not the other way around). What are these logical conclusions? Insecurities are absolutely human, and everyone has them. But if the "logical conclusions" are just musing about why her past relationships and partners fell through, they're not logical. Those are intrusive thoughts that are generally not Kind, True, Helpful, or Necessary.

Most of what you touched on in this comment seems rooted in your insecurity. That's not an insult, but I don't see how you take this experience and assume it says something about women. I think it would help to reframe sex in your mind. A person's enjoyment of sex with you have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with their previous partners. It may have a bit to do with physical performance, but more than anything, it's the connection. If you get into a relationship and have a mutual level of trust and ca…

All of these are preferences that you have except for being sensitive and supportive. But that is expected, you just have to find the right person. No feminist or woman would say that women shouldn't support their partners.

Okay, I don't think I ever said that men aren't oppressed, but what do you think they are oppressed by? Not what issues men face that women don't, what are men specifically oppressed by? I would personally say men are oppressed by the traditional gender roles dictating that ment must play the provider role.

Let me turn that jab on it's head. You have nothing to argue. Because if you wanted to find a community where feminists actively work for equality between men and women and address men's issues specifically, it's called r/MensLib. But this sub hates that one, seemingly for no other reason than the fact that they don't hate feminists. If you didn't know about that community, then I'm sorry for lumping you in with this frankly gross and counterproductive group of men here. If you did and you disli…

Disclaimer, I don't like this community. I think it's rich how I've seen this same exact post several times. "Why don't women support men's rights?" Okay, well if this is what you want, then why am I perpetually criticized for having discussions in here and supporting feminism based on my personal world view? Does this community just want women to support men, but not the other way around? Weird way to reach equality but okay.

I haven't experienced this double standard personally. If it exists, i have to imagine it's because of traditional conservative perspectives that people HAVE to respect their mothers. I'm a leftist and all my friends are leftists and they all agree thay respect is earned

I still disagree but I understand your perspective. I just feel that to progess in society, you have to challenge tradition. Abolishing slavery may have led to a slight lack of efficiency for a second but the long term effects are a wider population with different perspectives, which in turn allow for problems to be solved in new and different ways.

Idk what that has to do with my post. They get passed up on dating apps for the same reason other men do. There's a lot more men on these apps, and a smaller percentage of the men get a higher percentage of the matches. That's a men's issue, not a biological men's issue.
/r/MensRights26/04/22 01:05 PM

I'm talking about Transmen. People who identify as men, but were not born men. They go through very similar, if not the same issues as biological men. They get passed up on dating apps, their expression of masculinity is criticized, they are treated differently or as lesser because of their gender.
/r/MensRights26/04/22 12:48 PM

I was not under the impression that this is a sub for biological men who identify as men. Mostly because there's literally nowhere on the sub where it says that.
/r/MensRights26/04/22 12:43 PM

Your takes in this comment section are so weird. Society has rules that you have to live by. Okay? I'm assuming you mean that traditional masculinity is seen as 'better' than any other expression of one's masculinity, such as crying or painting one's nails despite stigma. If that's what you really believe, then why are you in this sub at all? Advocating for Men's Rights relies at least on the belief that men do not currently have access to some rights. However, at the same time, you're saying so…

Awesome, causal transphobia. Regardless, a man painting his nails has absolutely nothing to do with changing their gender or revealing their sexual orientation. If you care about Men's Rights, why are you so busy criticizing men?

If you have a penis, you are a man. 2% of the world's population is intersex. That's one in 50 people. Chances are, you know someone with intersex genitalia. In other words, a woman with XX chromosomes can develop a penis naturally. That is literally science, not "my truth", and it doesn't make her a man. Also, transitioning race and gender are completely different. If a white man believed in his head that he was a black man, and never told a single person, he could live relatively easily. Civil…

TERF is Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist. The sole thing that differentiates them from a radical feminist is that they exclude trans women from their feminism. You might have more in common with TERFs than you think.

They are a marginalized group. The Trump administration literally removed discrimination protections for trans people in 2020. Also, you literally called them " 'people' ". Nobody who is treated as equal by society has their status as a human being called into question. I'm a leftist, all my friends are leftists, never once heard the term MAP outside of the internet. It's a made-up scapegoat, just like critical race theory. Transgender people are legitimately marginalized, and comparing them to pedophiles just makes you look ignorant.

There is also all the things that feminism made to make sexual violence as fundamentally men's violence against women. Wasn't it a feminist organization that prompted to change the FBI's definition of rape to omit the term 'female'? Sure, you could argue that this change doesn't do much, but it certainly doesn't imply that feminism exclusively undercuts male victims of rape.

Fascism is often pro-police, pro-military, pro-capitalism, anti-socialism and anti-communism, xenophobic, racist, anti-democracy (in the context of being pro-dictatorship). In what ways is that comprable to feminsim?
/r/MensRights09/03/22 04:55 PM

feminism is anti-male in everything it says and does and it's caused a lot of direct harm to men. Your blanket statements help nothing, including this debate. The way you're talking about feminism isn't based in reality. I literally just stated ways that feminism isn't anti-male. The #MeToo movement provided support for MOSTLY female victims of SA, but also men. Not to a similar extent, but it is feminism so it's hard to try and expect that. Following that movement, people were encouraged to spe…

I mostly agree, but I feel like there is a point in trying to defend it. Not because I'm a knight in shining armor defending feminism, but because I feel like both sides could gain so much if they just accepted each other. Similar to conservatives and liberals, it seems like both sides vehemently claim that the rich elite are supporting the "others". But if both sides hate the actions of the rich elite, why don't we just solely direct our passion and discontent towards them? And the lawmakers? I…

Okay, a lot to unpack here, but I feel like the more I read, the further it strays from my point. Many people have done many bad things "under the banner" of different ideologies. For example, Elliot Rodger may have called himself a Men's Rights Activist at some point. However, to call his murders a result of the Men's Rights Movement would be dishonest, because he doesn't represent what the movement actually stands for. Similarly, these examples of cases that were allegedy committed under the b…

I don't know much about it, but divorce court does seem misandrist and I get why it radicalizes a lot of men. However, the KKK comment and the bit about modern slavery feels a bit extreme. At least in the US and UK, where most the posts on this sub are referencing, those issues don't seem prevalent. Also, I said my personal reasons why I like feminism.

People who are truly sexually assaulted have no doubt. If someone is unsure, they almost assuredly were not assaulted. Date rape drugs and other mental impairments being an exception. This is such a dumbass comment? Have you ever heard of coercion? If someone asks you again, and again, and again, and again until you FINALLY say yes, that's not consent. Bro... the context is you asking me to link a comment of you being gross to women. You're so dense. Real talk, I'm in college, surrounded by girls around 20,21,22, and i don't know a single one who wants to date a transphobe. If you post on one of those dating advice subreddits again, say this: "I'm 22, I like computer science, and I hate transgender people. Why can't I get a girlfriend?" Hate to ruin the fun but I'm 99% sure there's no defamation case. The dude posted on r/foreveralone and r/foreveralonedating, not to mention that he said it was a few years ago and he's currently 21 or 22 (young for a lawsuit), also not to mention that in a defamation lawsuit, you have to prove significant financial or reputation damage, which a 18 year old clearly wouldn't have much of.

there is no racial dilemma in MRA just as there is no toxic masculinity, murders, rapists, abusers, sexists etc I feel that this sentiment is one of the top reasons why Men's Rights moments don't get far. You deny that there are ANY issues with your movement, and blame it all on feminism. There are sexist feminists, and there are sexist MRAs. There are transphobic feminists, and there are transphobic MRAs. That's the unfortunate truth, and acting like your issue has no faults does not help.

Fair enough. I think my argument got lost along the way. There are some areas where women struggle more than men, and some of them are systemic. The same is true for men, there are some systemic ways in which men struggle more than women. But the original commenter makes the ridiculous claim that women doesn't struggle at all and it makes the whole MRM look foolish.

Your comment started to go off the deep end so I stopped reading it, but I'd like to address the beginning. The vast majority of transgender people will agree that chromosomal sex does exist, and people are either born a male XY or a female XX. However, transmen can be men and transwomen can be women. They can be because chromosomal sex is not the only thing that matters. The sex chromosomes are held in the sperm and the egg, and thus combined at conception to begin creating typically a set of f…

Feminism isn't a cult dude, you don't have to specifically know every detail about the Patriarchy to style yourself as a feminist or at least defend feminist ideals. Okay, valid viewpoint. I believe feminists do propagate the patriarchy. However, I think the main difference between feminism of the 80s and 90s is the blame. I do believe that in the past, it was a common platform for feminists to blame the upholding of the patriarchy on the average man. However, doing even basic reading of modern feminist theory shows that the average feminist doesn't blame the upholding of the patriarchy on men specifically. You're really comparing the KKK to feminism... okay. It's literally nothing like that. I've seen people on this sub saying that trans men are just women in men's clothing. I wouldn't ask you to defend that, because it's just a transphobe who is not indicative of MRAs as a whole. Btw touch grass

I won't defend that because I don't agree with it. It's obviously a radical feminist perspective, and I never claimed it's easy to defend radical feminism. Just regular feminism. It's fine that you're getting your 3 upvotes because we're in an echo-chamber with people that agree with you. However, it's at least obvious to me that you don't understand what feminism is. Bro... you think that women make huge, sweeping generalizations about men, and then you make a sweeping generalization about feminists. We both know that's not a mainstay feminist platform. You're so wrong, like it would be funny if it weren't so personally infuriating. When was the last time you were in school? I'm literally in college to be a teacher and I'm student teaching in real classrooms. I interact with teachers so often and I can say firsthand that the vast majority of teachers aren't just "teaching students solely how to get marks." I'm going to make two assumptions, at least one of which I wholeheartedly believe must be true: 1: You're a high school aged kid who is shit…

Whether you're right about feminists hating men (which I don't personally believe you are), aren't you doing the same thing by forcing your beliefs about masculinity onto other men?

You cannot support a men's rights movement and have this mindset. They are directly contradictory. It ultimately harms men. For example, seeking professional help to deal with mental illness as a man has been called weak historically. However, it appears that men having a higher suicide rate than women is a big talking point here. So how can we one on hand call men weak and chastise them for being vulnerable, and on the other hand blame women, society, or some other source for causing men to bec…

..... i thought this was r/MensRights. Why are we now criticizing "emotionally fragile" men? I assumed the point of this sub and post were to emphasize how men shouldn't be forced into any specific gender role.

So from the quick research I had to do on my own because you didn't link anything, it appears you're right. In the most recent study (2013), 47% of the children who were studied and responded felt they were no longer gender dysphoric. However, in that study, the kids were originally reached out to when they were under 12. They were reached out to again when they turned 15. If we go back to the psychological concept I linked you to earlier, you can see that ages 6-11 are often a different stage o…

They are different because they are at different stages in life; psychologically speaking, they are in different stages of development. Now obviously, psychology relies a lot on theories, but i will link you to one of the most popular. https://www.verywellmind.com/erik-eriksons-stages-of-psychosocial-development-2795740

Are you seriously comparing the psychological phases that a three year old goes through to a 14 year old who believes that they are trans? Completely different.

And please explain how your personal experiences can tell you that "men sexually harrass women far more than the other way around". I have witnessed and heard stories about women being sexually harassed. I know a couple women who have been date-raped. I have friends and ex-friends who have catcalled and touched women inappropriately when they clearly did not want to be touched. I, a male, have personally been in a sexually abusive relationship. However, outside of that, I cannot recall any exper…

Pulling the definition from the Race and Ethnic Relations class I took last semester, taught by someone with a PhD in sociology. Paraphrasing obviously because I don't know the exact wording: Privilege - Unearned benefits assigned to individuals and groups that are received only due to their place in a specific location's social hierarchy. Essentially, as I was made to understand it, privilege is getting better treatment or not getting lesser treatment due to a condition that you can not control…

It's just that the latter is so normalised that it is overlooked. You might be onto something here. I can only speak to my personal experience, but I have told several people about what I believe to be sexually abusive actions done to me by my former girlfriend. I haven't had a single girl undermine or normalize it. However, I would say that about 50% of the men I told said it was fucked up but it wasn't sexual abuse. When looking at myself for a case-study, it appears that men delegitimize the …

Biology might be the reasoning, but that doesn't make it not privilege and that doesn't make it okay. Like I said, privilege is a hardship that comes solely based on an unchosed characteristic of your person. Women didn't choose to be women, but because they are, they fall victim to higher rates of sexual harrassment from the opposite gender.

Would you argue that my second to last paragraph is or is not an example of privilege?

I mean it's a fair enough question that I don't have an answer to. However, I have a problem with the following statement: All the examples that they have given before are more like their feelings getting hurt and are largely anecdotal. not actually a privilege. I disagree with what you define as a privilege in your post. A privilege is simply an advantage that one group has over another. For example, I am a 19 year old white male in the US. I can't think of a time where I have undergone any har…

Ahahahahaha what? My guy check my profile, I'm very much a dude and I love myself. Also just thought I'd start a dialogue surrounding the seemingly exclusionary tone from certain people of this sub towards trans people. I don't have anything against the sub as a whole, just certain transphobic people who aren't challenged.

Okay. If that's a term that is offensive to use, I didn't know that, and I won't use it anymore. Simple as that. However, can you tell that any time I've used it anywhere in this post, it wasn't meant to bring any harm or insult anyone from the transgender community? If you really, wholeheartedly believe that I was using it to somehow dehumanize trans people, then you're being intentionally ignorant.

Nope. My post is not about slipups. Saying "transgendered men are just women in men's clothes" is not a slip up. I accidentally said transgendered WOMAN and HER, meaning I would respect the gender identity of the hypothetical woman. I meant to say transgendered MAN and HIM, but even with my slipup, I'm not intentionally misgendering anyone with the intent to insult. Also, I mentioned I'm a cis dude bc you repeatedly said "her". I'm not a her lmao. Also, point stands that I'm not trans-exclusiona…

Exposed !! Or, and bear with me here, I just slipped up and said transgendered woman and her instead of transgendered man and him. I've been making a lot of replies, not that hard to understand. Also, it's strange, in your infinite wisdom, how you somehow mislabeled me a TERF when I'm not only a cisgender, straight dude, but also, never labeling myself as a feminist

But these are the same people that insist that transgenderism must be rooted in mental illness. Mental illness isn't regarded as a good thing. They're insisting an entire group of people are mentally ill.

I think I like your response best of all the ones here. I guess I would just say that I'd like to see that line drawn a little sooner than it is here. When someone says a person with a woman with a penis going to the gynecologist is stupid, I don't think that's transphobic. They have different parts than cisgender woman. But when someone is saying that trans men are delusional women who dress up in mens clothes and cut their hair short, that crosses a line, at least for me. I just wish it did fo…

Idk, i get your point, but still, something rubs me the wrong way when comments saying trans men are women dressing up gets plenty of upvotes, and comments defending the marginalized groups are downvoted. Again, I get it. If that opinion resonates with other people, they upvote it, and it's not censored. But I posted this not so much so that mods would become transphobia hunters, but so that MAYBE, the OFF chance prevails and people don't so easily support harmful rhetoric.

Okay, but how does sex matter in this sub? Sex would be the pair of chromosomes and genitals youre born with. Do either of those play a big role in the main MRA talking points? My point is that if trans men go through similar struggles of being treated poorly because of their gender identity, which is male, then I don't see why they aren't vehemently supported here.

Unless you're calling yourself out, that's not my logic. You're saying that this sub should remove my post saying not to be transphobic. In other words the mods would be defending transphobia as if it's a trademark of this sub. I would hope that's not the case.

I meannn, not 100% sure it's the same thing. If I were to comment "trans men are men dressed up in women's clothes" on a subreddit for trans men, I would probably get removed. Rightfully so in my opinion, because again, I think it's a blatantly transphobic thing to say. I don't think it's a rational and valid perspective that deserves to be debated.

Lol who cares what they think? I don't choose my opinions based on people's feelings. Because you said you believed they're valid. But many, many transgendered people don't believe they need a diagnosed mental illness to be a valid trans person. I'm not asking you to be nicer to people or care more about feelings. I just figured, hey, if the validity of transgender people is something you care about, maybe you might be interested in hearing why the transmedicalist view is looked down on by a lot…

I think we've hit a barrier where we're not going to change each other's minds at this point. I will say, however, that many (or even most) transgender people WILL in fact care about the phrasing. If I am reading too much into it and you don't care as much as I do then fine. However, if you are interested, google "Transmedicalism". It's essentially your view on transgenderism and in the transgender community, it's not looked upon highly.

I just found this sub probably 3 days ago and I didn't see a single post like mine after sorting by new but hey, let me double check. Assuming I was wrong, is having a stricter policy towards transphobia on a sub about gender activism really that bad?

The rules literally say no hate speech though. An example is that saying "black people are lazy" is directly meant to be an insult. How is saying "transgender men are women in men's clothes" not almost the exact same thing? Moreover, while I'm new to this sub, "Men's Rights" sounds like a community of men supporting men. The transphobic comments I've read do not reflect that.

I don't understand this comment but it's not a troll, I just stumbled upon this subreddit a few days ago. If people are addressing transphobia on this sub on a "regular schedule", doesn't that prove my point?

Okay. I understand your perspective. Trans men are not the same as biological men. However, there's two main points I want to get across. 1: Saying that having a desire to change your gender is a mental illness is largely seen as transphobic by the transgender community. However, I don't think you're transphobic. You say that you believe trans men are valid. However, if you're not transphobic and are interested in transgenderism as a political group, I think rephrasing might be best. You said in…

So do you just not think trans people are valid? I'm not trying to strawman but thats the conclusion I'm getting, unless you think trans men are valid UNTIL they get pregnant, then they're women again until the baby comes out.

😐 some Men's Rights advocate you are. If this hypothetically person believes they are and identifies as a man, they are likely going to do what they can do live the life of a man, look like a man, etc. If they look like a man, then they would hypothetically likely go through the struggles that men do (having people assume theyre dangerous, etc.) Why should trans men be excluded from the Men's Rights movement??

I don't really get how you got so many upvotes with no responses. Look at mass shootings by gender. In the last 40 years in the US, 113 mass shootings have been men, and 3 have been women. Sure, their ultimate target isn't to slaughter women, but it's very easy to hypothesize that maybe their inability to relate to others, especially women, could drive them to do a mass shooting. I understand the stem of this argument is that "Kill All Men" is a bad slogan. I agree. However, I think the amount o…

Dumb argument. If you want a country founded in freedom and run by the people, how can you deem a less practical and more creative field as unnecessary? North Korea doesn't allow for freedom. Their workers are just practical, only existing to support the government. Is that the ideal?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
