Thing is, he's got a point. Having teachers that like you makes life so much easier. All of a sudden, showing up late or turning in an assignment late doesn't matter that much. If a teacher doesn't like you, however...

I absolutely did not say just let the parents deal with it. I said, quote, there should be "severe punishment". Not once did I say that the parents should be the ones to mete out that punishment. I am not advocating zero punishment. There should be a severe punishment, but putting someone on a sex offender registry for fucking life is absurd. The focus should be on rehabilitation, not eternal condemnation. With children this young, there is a fantastic chance that we can figure out what's going on in their lives, and work to fix it so they live to be productive members of society and don't menace other people again. Sex offender registry for a minor in a situation like this is a bitttt much, but there should definitely be some kind of severe punishment. Sex offender registries are, in my opinion, abused heavily in this country.
