I started with small camping trips and have moved on up to week long beach trips. Just know that “vacation” as a single parent of small kids may mean something different than it used to for you. Still it’s lots of fun.

From my experience, it will take a while. Definitely have to not be co-habitating. But you're better off without her. We co-parent so there is communication around the kids. But on days when I don't have the kids, I hit the gym hard and I'm exploring some interests that I didn't have time for when married. But it's going to take a while anyway. Huh, that's interesting. I'm in the marital house as well after all of the financial settlement - and it's becuase of the kids like the OP indicated. But yeah, lots of memories and I'm not sure what the future holds.
