This 100%. Also— the human need for connection is objectively measurable. Not even talking in a romantic sense. The number of studies showing how important communalism for humans as a species is very extensive. There’s probably some extent of the need to connect with others being met by the looksmaxxing forums— If you really want to create better habits OP, you’re going to want to look at different communities to be a part of that can have a more positive influence on your mental health. It can …

I mean if people were self reflecting more there would basically be no need for therapy 🤔💭

Hmmm. Yeah I mean I think you know how to analyze this— WHY did he feel like strangers with his adoptive parents, why is he no longer in contact ,etc…

Yeahhh I mean if we see someone has controlling tendencies but fail to act that’s kind of on us. I’m also a psych nerd— telling you the things I wish I had known! Seeing depth where there isn’t any is a BIG hurdle for a lot of us. 🖤 I guess I’d just be direct if you do let him go but also gentle, and you’ll have done all you can do in clear conscience…

Girl. You’re literally saying this and not considering running the opposite direction? I don’t believe in remaining friends with someone that doesn’t have shared values with you or any sort of history… I have friends where we don’t have the same values anymore but we used to and that’s a little different. Psych nerds have the problem sometimes of seeing the depth that other people have and making it about their past traumas. But to them it isn’t always like that— sometimes to other people they j…

Honestly it’s probably a combination of many of the things you said, but I would keep an eye on the redpill stuff and remain emotionally distant to protect yourself in the meantime… 23 isn’t much older so I don’t see any significant age stuff as far as looking for someone naive, he also maybe hasn’t had a ton of experience dating but I would ask about his history. It’s very possible if he had a break in dating he got sucked into redpill esque stuff, but that doesn’t mean he’s beyond hope either,…

This very much mimics a part of my thought process when choosing to stay with someone who cheated… (though not entirely)… Unpopular take but I feel like most people are too quick to leave in situations involving cheating when many times a bit more nuisance is at play. Not all. But many… And also coming from a divorced home, what I actually witnessed was my mom never becoming romantic with anyone for 10 years after divorcing my dad who cheated, and not necessarily being better off for it. Maybe e…

Ahh thanks for your insight though 🖤 That whole situation is what plunged me headfirst into a special interest of Transactional Analysis (super interesting) and to a lesser extent the 48 laws of power. Like damn if I had read the 48 laws of power this probably wouldn’t have happened. 🤣 too bad. Rule 1 was never outshine your superiors. Oops 😅 Maybe one day I’ll pick up my sword again, metaphorically speaking 🗡️

I guess I could see that. 💭 Well, they successfully ruined my professional life and I never recovered lol. Or never recovered a traditional sense that I put myself in the position of working under someone else again… 🥳 Gotta love it.

When I was in my 20s, it was only OLDER women who were like this towards me (late 40s thru 50s)… …When I entered the workforce. I didn’t have a ton of female friendships in my 20s so maybe that served as a sort of cushion but idk. I felt like these older women experienced a TON of jealousy ultimately, which caused them to go on the attack easily.

Yeah but think about how fucked up that is to reject someone because they’re not a virgin… How many people have been sexually abused who suddenly get to be dropped like they’re nothing, for something they didn’t even get to choose? That was literally a huge part of my own story… That’s so gross to me. To reject someone based on that. I went on this whole journey of celibacy and restoring my purity in my mid-late 20s, just asking what qualities would I embody if I was a virgin that I feel like I …

I had a past relationship end bc of red pill stuff. They were very unshakable in their beliefs. They had managed to convince themselves something to the tune of, all women are manipulative, therefore any emotional expression I had was seen as manipulation (so nothing was based on my actual feelings about things), so I was just continually not being related to on an equal playing field. It didn’t matter what evidence I had on the contrary, he somewhere along the way decided he was the victim and …

I have a small mouth and found someone who comes from a culture where they don’t feel as entitled to blow jobs (lots of american men REALLY value blowjobs I didn’t even consider there would be men that didn’t have it as socialized into them to be sucked off all the time) it’s more like a fun treat when it happens 😊 And I’m able to give more freely without because I don’t feel pressured into it… my mouth isn’t sore etc. But 30mins for a blowjob is also a long time so 🥲 I wouldn’t blame myself too…

That’s “normal” sounding to you? To be called delusional by your oh so loving and not at all controlling romantic partner who you are supposedly equal to? Because of the mutual respect you both have? We accept the love we think we deserve.. But sometimes what we actually deserve is bigger than what we can actually see…

As a white woman who was raised this way, I have to agree … But is it really an ex red pill take? 😅🥲 But it has turned out alright for me so far, so there’s that? I blame my religious upbringing.. For better or worse I was basically brainwashed into thinking it’s literally my life purpose to love people… Is romance really so dead that some are convinced it’s always an act…? Ayy don’t live that way if you’re becoming convinced that love is always a lie!!! I always tried to live in a way that kept…

I could see this power disparity as being a contributing factor in these kinds of relationships. However, I also want to offer another perspective, because it isn’t as black and white as you make it seem. I also have had several decent relationships get dragged into this sort of mentality; The relationships started out relatively healthy then the red pill thinking started to infiltrate into everything, reality went out the door and everything feminine about me started to be warped into gross dis…

I had an ex totally get sucked into red pill spaces. The frustrating part is I would want to talk about things and see what’s going on with him. But it’s almost like his own judgement towards himself prevented him from ever really trying to express himself: so instead he just kind of resorted to shaming me to try to fee better about himself. Spoiler alert- he never really felt better about himsef either 😅 It’s just frustrating because it feels like women now are forced to do the same mind/heart …

Ok ok yes. Woman here— this sentiment very much reminds me of how there’s a bit of acting BOTH ways when it comes to gender roles. Like a man might feel just as clueless as myself when it comes to repairs, but because he has stronger arms and thicker skin on his hands he’ll likely be able to pull a tire off of a car (whereas with myself that task would take an exponentially longer amount of time if not be impossible). Likewise being a mother and leaning into mother-like roles can feel similarly …

It’s actually a genius business model what these people do… The men attracted to these ideologies have usually been wronged by a woman, leaving them vulnerable due to lack of closure. The advice then ruins the men’s relationship with women, leaving them even more vulnerable, and they become even more loyal to this unhealthy ideology… I have concerns about my own marriage at the moment 🌧
