I knew a guy who was a widower. He remarried a woman with two kids, and I don't think their marriage even lasted a year before they divorced. Guess who was on the hook for paying child support for her two kids?

Sounds a LOT like my older sister. She was always a wild hippie druggie and had absolutely shit taste in men. All of them were super scummy as as hell and would beat the shit out of her. And when she briefly dated one of my friends in high school who was a chill dude, she broke up with him after a couple of weeks because "he was too clingy." Her life has been nothing but drama and violence. She's not objectively stupid, either, but she just doesn't seem to have the capacity to learn when it come…

When she dies, though, her body will provide enough nourishment to give time for coroner to arrive and for animal control to re-home her cats, so she's not completely worthless.

When I was 40 I dated a 22 year old for a bit. Some people (almost all women) treated me like I was a pedo. But muh power dynamic! Yeah, I was between jobs when we met, she was already in a PhD program and had her name on a multi-million dollar trust. She's one of the smartest people I've ever met and age had nothing to do with my attraction to her.

My last girlfriend was 22 when I was 40. She was already halfway through a PhD program and was on a ~$3million+ trust.... she wasn't dumb and she was waaaay more loaded than I'll probably ever be. Age has very, very little to do with power imbalance.

That's the way to do it. I typically go for high-yield dividend stocks. Most of the stock market doesn't make sense to me and doesn't seem rational. Like, how does Tesla have a market cap over twice as high as Toyota when Toyota makes 9 times more vehicles? I think the safe and boring stocks are the way to go. I also wish I would have kept my AMD stock. I bought some for under $10/share just before they came out with their Ryzen chip because I knew it would be a major player in data centers agai…

Good for you. I wish I wasn't so risk-adverse. I had some AMC stock a while back but cashed it out. I nearly bought a shit-ton of it when it got down to like $2.50/share during the initial COVID onslaught because I knew it would go back up and I balked. I had no idea the sonks guys would jack it up to nearly $50/share 4 months later. I could have made a killing.

It's examples like these that make not fully buy into the hypergamy trope. It's not about hypergamy with women, it's always about tingles. They THINK they want a high value (read rich, tall, handsome) man, so that ideal in their minds gives them tingles. However, when they're actually with a high value man like in your example, where there are expectations and the usual boredom of a relationship, those tingles go away. The drug dealer treats her like shit and takes her on the emotional roller co…

I feel you, man. My first serious girlfriend after my divorce said I was a perfect boyfriend, a sex god, etc., and she still freaked out and pushed me away. There are some shitty men out there, no doubt, but there are a LOT LOT LOT of flaky women out there too. And to me, the disconnect is in communication styles. When it comes right down to it, though, what is gained by being "involved" in politics? The only thing an average douchebag like me can do is vote when the time comes, and donate to political parties. We all see how arguing with the other side about politics is utterly pointless, so to me, there's little use in spending the time between elections pissed off about shit that's out of my control.

Late to the party, but I feel you. I share 50/50 custody with my serial cheating ex. I "only" have to pay $300/mo in CS. Our decree said that we were to split other expenses, but my ex had a hard time paying me back for a few things (like before/after care at school) so I took her to court. I'm in Indiana, also a red state, but with no-fault divorce laws. The ex-wife was a serial cheater who had an exit affair with a drunken bisexual promiscuous guitarist in a grindcore band. Luckily, no alimony in the state, however, even with 50/50 custody, because she has had the same retail job since she was 18 and no college degree, I make a lot more money than her, so she's considered custodial, and I have to pay child support, have our son on my insurance, and have to pay for most incidental…

Two things, and two things alone, guide women and their behavior. Tingles and validation. Her post was about tingles, and she was thanking people for the validation. Anecdotally, it seems everyone has the same number of "points" to choose from, like a DnD character. Too much one way, like IQ, and your social intelligence/common sense goes down. My IQ was tested at 129, and I can be a bit of a social retard at times, but I was also diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (runs in the family), so there's that... Probably why my ex-wife cheated on me with a drunken guitar player :D

Yeah, Mechanical Engineers seem to be the "generic" engineers, for lack of a better term. You can do almost anything engineering related with an ME degree. Aero is mostly Mechanical with more fluid dynamics and orbital mechanics. As you've experienced, it's easy to get pigeon-holed in those niche fields. My 2nd choice was Nuclear Engineering, but with the bad press recently, I'm glad I didn't pursue that from a professional standpoint, even though nuclear (especially thorium) is the future.

The thing about an engineering degree is that it gets your foot in the door of any place you like. I screwed my engineering career trying to make my ex-wife happy, but now I'm a sysadmin for the supercomputers at a major university. I really like the job so far and do have Linux/sysadmin experience, but no CS background. My AE degree was enough to get my foot in the door. I still love aerospace, though. I have my PPL and co-own a Cessna 177. Flying is a lot of fun.

Women don't understand that it's ALWAYS a detriment because they almost always want someone better than them. If they get degrees to "increase their RMV," they're just making the pool of attractive-to-them men smaller and smaller. I'm in a very similar situation to ijustdontcare74. I was young when I got married. There were various reasons for that, but most of it was just youthful ignorance and no positive male role model in my life to advise me otherwise. I was married for 12 years and have a son. Yes, because women and children were let across the borders as refugees, and the men 18-60 had to stay behind and fight, but I have yet to see a feminist protest this appalling double standard. There are no feminists in a war zone.

Women absolutely do not have the ability to be happy. They cannot ever be happy with what they have and purposely sabotage themselves for stupid reasons. They couple that with a complete lack of responsibility for their choices and a feminist echo chamber telling them they deserve better and that no one is good enough for her.

I think you nailed the problem here, and that's standards. "Nice and reasonably pretty" is basically the standard for every guy, but as we see on this sub, a lot, maybe even a majority of 20-30's women these days, have impossibly high standards when it comes to men. And even if they snag an average guy, most of them keep asking themselves "Is the the best I can do?" When they get to that point, they have already built up enough toxic resentment for their average guy that they become disgusted wi…

I might be able to, but there's no guarantee and I'll probably spend more on a lawyer than I can get back. Reversals aren't covered by insurance, either, so I was out of pocket. I would get homeless guys to lawyers, pastors to a couple of my old school teachers, couples, swingers, frat boys, sorority girls, and quite a few gay guys. I've been hit on more by gay guys than by women, which kind of sucks since I'm not gay. If I was gay, though, I would be the Hugh Hefner of homos, based on my experiences at the porn store. As a job, it was sweet. I could read/do a little bit of h…

One: There are "viewing booths" in the back, kind of like a bathroom stall, with a screen. You put a token in (each token is worth a quarter) and it plays a movie for about a minute. There's a button to change the movie, and there was something like a dozen different movies playing on loop. One-A: The "viewing booths" are the gay pick up/sex area. If you're a straight guy, CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!! OK, I don't want to hijack anything, but here's the funniest story from my tour of duty. It was a normal e…

They do! I actually worked at a porn store for 5.5 years while I was in college. It's actually one of my favorite jobs. But I do have stories to tell...

She acknowledges that men's rights and women's rights are fundamentally different, and actually goes out and gives presentations on how men's rights are being neglected, despite the wrath she's invoking from feminists. She has a great TedX talk that's on YouTube. Call her what you want, but she seems alright in my book.

My aunt met my uncle when he was in the Marines, both were really religious and wanted to wait until marriage before they had sex. They got married like 3 weeks after they first met, seriously! They're still married, too. If 'ol girl wanted to settle down, she could throw herself at literally ANY thirsty church dude. But I have a feeling that none of them are good enough, ahem, I mean, on her level.

Maybe not directly, but does he pay child support? If so, the money that goes to his son's mother is supposed to be going to those things, so he DOES buy those things, if indirectly.

That's what I was implying. Who knows how they measured the 70-80% divorce initiation by women. I'm just saying that, in my case, if I was part of the statistical group for the above percentages, things would have been skewed as my ex was the one who wanted out, but *I* was the one to file, making me part of the 20-30%, which isn't really the case. Of course, it's so easy to parrot back statistics we read online without looking at the measurement and methodology.

Word. Those statistics might even be off a bit, because I divorced my ex-wife for cheating, but even though she wanted out, she didn't want to make the effort to actually legally separate so I had to pull the trigger and file.

Women walking out of their house built by men, getting into their car invented, built, and designed by men, driving on the road graded and laid down by men: "I don't need no man."

Wow, nice to see someone else acknowledge this, as many of these subjects are taboo. When studying the heritability of intelligence, there was always "regression towards the mean" for the kids of highly intelligent people. That's probably because, like you said, women are more "average" than men, and men don't select mates based on intelligence, so the odds of them picking an average intelligence partner instead of a high IQ partner is much higher.

That pisses me off to no end. I met Rob Halford (Judas Priest) a long while back when he was doing a solo tour and stopped by the food joint I worked at. Didn't even know it was him until my boss recognized him. He was just wearing a tee shirt, shorts and sneakers, and was just a totally average looking guy. When he was recognized it caused a bit of a run for autographs, and he graciously signed each and every one. Total class act. I wish more celebs were like him.
