I got really lucky and didn’t move too far, so I ended up reconnecting with an old high school friend and she’s lived here for a long time and has been introducing me to her friends who I have now started hanging out with on my own! I wish there were more ways but with covid of course that complicates things even more than usual. Good luck!

I am so proud of you! Life is about to open up in so many amazing ways for you. I was never married, but also left a long term 10+ year relationship last year. Thankfully my friends have been supportive, but I did move to a totally new city alone, so meeting new people has been a fun and interesting challenge. I feel so much more peace and happiness now, and do anything I want (or don’t want!) to do on my own time and dime. Congrats to you, you deserve all the good things coming your way!

So well said. Poor tippers always give me the ick, regardless of gender.

People were mentioning the same in the comments! I would always drive myself.

I have been thinking a lot about this myself. When I think about what benefit adding a man into my life now would be, there are way more cons than pros. I have close female friends for companionship who I can do everything with from cuddling to traveling together, I support myself financially, I can get myself off, and if I need anything done around the house I can just hire someone. I don’t care to become a parent, and even if I did I could always do it via sperm bank or adoption. And this is c…

Amazing work you have done on yourself! I relate in a lot of ways, leaving a lousy LVM and becoming your true self is a beautiful thing. You are going to have a beautiful life because you have realized the amazing value in yourself, and will never let a man dull that. Hugs to you 🤗

What a horrifying story. And you are so right, any time I have followed my intuition, I never regret it - quite the opposite, I have some very clear examples in my life about when I ignored my intuition and always ended up regretting my decisions in those situations. As I have gotten older, I feel like that “voice” gets clearer and I have less hesitation about what to do and I am so thankful for being able to trust and listen to myself.

Agreed with this completely. It’s also laughable how men have the nerve to complain about “how bad it is” for them on dating apps and they cling to the statistic that something like only the top x% get the majority of matches (implying that the “best” male profiles only get matches) and they are stuck with bots and premium snapchat or OF requests. Just because an average woman has more matches doesn’t mean anything if they’re all lousy men. They are effectively admitting that they aren’t that at…

I don’t think anyone here thinks every man is a terrible dad, but the problem (as with most issues with men) is that there are enough out there who are bad, and you just can’t tell for certain until it’s often too late. There are horror stories of women being married to amazing men and then they do a 180 after the pregnancy or child birth and the woman is left with the physical and emotional labor. You can’t deny that there are FAR more instances like the example OP shared vs what you are saying…

Proud of you! You did the right thing. I can relate, I lurked FDS for a long time while in a LTR and I can honestly say, 6 months out...I am happier than I have ever been, life is amazing and I feel like a world of opportunities has opened up for me. I wish the same for you and know that whatever hardships come in the immediate future will pale in comparison to what you life would have been like had you stayed with him! ❤️

This is exactly how I feel. I started following FDS while I was in a LTR with a LVM, and it helped me realize that my standards and expectations weren’t extreme or unreasonable. I spent all of my 20’s working on myself and career while also providing for a man who wasn’t even able to meet by basic needs. Never again.

You nailed it. I am in a relationship for over 10 years now (not married) and my boyfriend was always interested in gaming, but I wouldn't have called him a Gamer per se. For whatever reason, this last year it has gotten very out of hand. He spends about 90% of his free time playing games on his computer. Help around the house and even spending time together doing literally anything is rare. It's even gotten to the point where I would prepare a meal for dinner or lunch, and he would take it back…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
