For me it's like approaching a girl, my brain will think of reasons not to do it, but I know it's something I have to do

Saying something simple like, "what's the plan today?". Her response will give you some options for convosation.

There is the option of calling out the elephant in the room saying something like, "You can't look at me like that and not say hello", said playfully with a smile. Then just get into a conversation

It sounds more like you're not comfortable with what you do and it's possible that is what turns the girl off. My advice would be to be honest and own what you do, some girls will like it, some won't.

You could say something such as, "Excuse me, you can't look at me like that and not say hello", with a cheeky smile.

Small talk isn't a waste of time if it leads to somewhere deeper

I disagree with this. As an introvert, I do require a recharge after significant social interaction. However, I do enjoy having a meaningful convosation with someone

Look for girls on the street who are not wearing masks, it's likely they will be more open to being approached

Questions are ok, but don't be on a fact collecting mission. Asking questions like "what are you passionate about?" and asking why to get into a deeper convosation. Statements are good also.

I do agree with the majority of what you have said. I don't think there is anything wrong with a compliment to let a girl know you find her attractive, just don't go OTT. It also has to come from a place of giving, you don't expect anything in return. It's nice guy behaviour to compliment thinking you can get sex in return, these kind of guys usually go full on with the gifts and favours also.

You can for sure, but you have to start by calling that you know what you are doing is unusual. For example saying, "I know this is a bit weird but I thought you looked great in that dress" or "I know this isn't the done thing but you're cute and I wanted to come say hi". Just have to be socially calibrated about it. Some girls will still be creeped out but a lot will be flattered also.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
