It is a shakedown! I also feel manipulated and it’s now a terrible existence.

What did you guys end up getting in terms of visitation? I ended up with every other weekend (Fri-Sun), every Wed for Dinner and every other Thur for dinner. Also, sharing holidays and 3 weeks vacation.

Very well said… it’s a shame this wisdom if given after suffering.

They really are this cruel, it’s not just her. At this point I am shocked to hear of one that’s not a cunt.

Here I am reading everyone’s stories and realizing I’m not alone. I started my night with depression building by thinking of my situation, my cunt an ex wife destroying my relationship with my son and how she got everything, yet is still charged with anger. I want to run away as well. What support is out there for us men? Is there a specific therapy style I should look into? Any clubs or self help books? I pray for you and for everyone else that is suffering; keep your head up!

I have been spending the last year trying to reach establish friendships. I’ve learned to let go of some and have been able to pick up some that I lost during my marriage. The true friends were back in my life and understanding. Let the ones go that are not being true friends.

Exactly! My ex wife and many other women use that term to break down men mentally.

It’s definitely too late, if you’re going to couples. I also feel that some of these therapists are in collusion with the wife. Also, individual therapy is needed on top of couples.

It’s disgusting that she is trying to turn your children against you. Don’t say a word or admit any kind of guilt. So many of us have faced this strategy that women employ during the divorce. She is no longer your friend. Only talk about kids. I can see her making up more stories and calling the police on you next. Good luck!

That’s crazy, it should be the date the divorce was filed. Divorces are dragged out for years and a lot of courts have been delayed with Covid. The system is a money making scam.

You’re not alone brother. You can’t see this yet, but it’s a process. Seek professional help first, slowly these feelings will lessen. Everyone is here to help. In the meantime, just breathe and try to exercise or distract yourself by keeping busy with chores. You got this!

Thank you, I’m not sure how to approach this. I feel that if I ask, She will spite me. I’m only asking for something reasonable. This schedule was her “generous offer”. My family is pressing me to do l it now and told me, “If you wait too long to ask for more time, the judge will ask, why did you wait this long?” My initial plan was to give it some time, a couple years and start by asking her for more access throughout the summer and hopefully her hatred of me starts to thaw in a year or two and…

We settled out of court. So, because I don’t have a change in material circumstance, a judge would probably not grant my motion for more visitation. When you said you may be out of luck for a while, what would change my request? Is it just a matter of trying again after a few years? Thank you again for the information and advice.

I was also over the cap, closer to 200k and my lawyer said that the judge probably wouldn’t calculate CS over cap unless it was like celebrity divorce or grossly over (like multiple times). My ex spouse’s lawyer accepted up to the cap, not sure if it helps. I think if it was a guarantee she could get over the cap, she would have fought it. Also, the percentage that you contribute was a factor in the final CS amount, not a straight 17%.

I agree, partly it’s his age and inability to express and understand feelings/emotions. I hope she is not behind it, I just want a peaceful and amicable post divorce life, where my son is the priority.

I’m sorry bro. Get some space and cool down before you do anything else. Take photos of the journal and think through what you are going to say or do. Don’t beat the shit out of the guy. You can contact a lawyer and educate yourself on the costs, process and about your specific situation. Keep your head up, she’s not worth it.

She would often accuse me of cheating. My ex wife was very toxic, basically I could do no right. I eventually found out when she had a fit of rage and threw her phone. I picked it up and saw a love text. My ex wife also didn’t want me to look at her, said I was the one that needed help. Abstained from any physical contact. She blatantly disrespected me, like your wife is doing. Also, 1 month after I signed divorce papers and moved out, she went on a vacation with my son to her friend in a far off…

Hang in there! It’s like shock. It took me a couple of days to shake it and accept it. It doesn’t help with the ex w/friend, sorry!

I really pray and hope that you fight and win. I live in NY and was afraid as well and settled for less. I feel that the court is a crapshoot, but If I could do it again, I would fight. I hope to eventual ask the court for more “visitation”. I am completed jaded by women and upset by how easily they can lie and manipulate the courts.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and respond. My logic at the time was to be amicable and avoid expensive legal fees, I couldn’t afford for a chance to the get minimum that I was offered. I stupidly believed that she would live up to her promises of involving me in my sons life. I can see now that putting myself first is priority number 1, before I can be in a position to possibly fight for more time. I appreciate your honesty and advice. I really appreciate your support and offer, …

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and respond. I only know what my son tells me. But, I’m pretty sure it’s because of her. It usually happens right after picking him up or in front of her. I hope the cliche is true, I feel like I’ve taken a step forward and then two back. I will try like hell to be the best dad I can be, because, honestly, I don’t know if I will try going back to court and can’t control what she says. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and respond. I feel the same and have read that a lot about the courts being expensive and a waste. I also heard that the judges won’t even consider changing the decree the first few years, I am afraid that what you wrote is the truth. Either way, I need to help myself first. Thank you!

Just happened to me, instead I celebrated the birthday during my visitation. I keep telling myself it’s just another day and try to keep to my routine to get my mind off of it. It sucks, but try to keep it together when you speak to her and be happy for her.
/r/Divorce_Men29/09/21 09:36 AM
1

I agree, it’s her problem. I just meant like, for the sake of my child if she couldn’t afford to live, pay bills, etc. could she lose custody?
/r/Divorce_Men29/09/21 09:31 AM
2

Exactly!!
/r/Divorce_Men28/09/21 10:49 PM
1

Also, she has always worked. I am reading into this too much, but could I be on the hook for more is she simply can’t work? Also, would a just grant relocation to a place say 3k miles away bc they have no mandate, child and mom don’t need a vaccine and she can work?
/r/Divorce_Men28/09/21 08:38 PM
1

So, I might not be obligated to pay more bc she can’t afford to live. What happens to her?
/r/Divorce_Men28/09/21 08:35 PM
2

I agree, but should I get financially punished bc of her choice? I love my child but can’t afford to give more than my share.
/r/Divorce_Men28/09/21 08:33 PM
2

I feel like this will effect a lot of people going forward, since there is probably no precedent. However, courts are siding with the states mandate. Also, her potential income is not effected by her religious beliefs. Also, I think everyone woman would choose not to work if they automatically received an beneficial adjustment. I’m nervous bc I simply cannot afford an increase.
/r/Divorce_Men28/09/21 08:31 PM
2

It was based on a combined income and formula that determines a percentage, like (60/40).
/r/Divorce_Men28/09/21 08:28 PM
1

Sorry, I just got home from work. She is voluntarily leaving her job. She is not able to work privately or publicly bc the mandate affect her job either way. Ironically if she went back to private her income would double. I feel she is up to something bc she could not live on CS alone (mortgage, bills, etc). Also, she wanted to relocate across the country during divorce and I would not agree to it.

Thank you! It’s very selfish. I also read that a child can ask at the age of 12 to be with one parent. I fear I’m being marginalized so that can come to fruition.

Thank you for sharing brother! It’s so easy to beat ourselves up and lose hope.

I totally agree that it might not be Ted Lasso specifically, but shows like the Housewives romanticize divorce and the free agent lifestyle for women. The grass is greener for them and the court system is in their favor. It definitely plants a seed subconsciously.
