I lived between Chicago and Milwaukee area. There is so much to do between both of those cities. Find other things to do with guys from work and by yourself. Like a running group, extracurricular classes, etc. When you go to those classes get to talk to people and show people your openness. This will create a circle of known people around you. Also, look at joining the alumni group for your university in your city. That will put you in contact with at least some people your age.

Yeah man, I agree with Australian for the most part. It sounds as if you have some imperfections in TRUE self confidence. All of those adjectives about charisma, outgoing, approachable, seem as if you can perform them. But you have a hard time sustaining them.
