Both of your links talk about actively doing, which I strongly advocate, as opposed to simply imagining. Here's another link in favor of positive action, instead of positive thinking: http://www.theguardian.com/science/2012/jun/30/self-help-positive-thinking

It's not a hack premise, it's psychology 101. If it's psychology 101, I assume you have at least one source to back up your idea that simply imagining or verbalizing a sentiment makes you believe it. Here's a counter-source: http://pss.sagepub.com/content/20/7/860

You clearly have no idea what the problem of free will actually is about. A determinist would very easily argue that it was an predetermined consequence with respect to your growling stomach, the supply in your fridge and pantry, and the amount of effort you felt like putting in.

The goal if pickup is to dare yourself to get with the hottest women of all and keep her. What a delightfully interesting criterion.

Can everyone stop acting like there's a dichotomy between the two? Videos and theory is what you take in between the times you go out. Berating the "I'll rather sit at home and read /r/seduction this Friday"-strawman is fun and all, but some of us want some inspiration and ideas for when we do go out.

If not I think we should start a weekly practice thread where everyone practices trying to make something mundane from their day in to an interesting story. "Mundane monday" maybe. Please make this a subreddit. I want a daily dose of this until the structure is completely ingrained in my mind.

There's so much room for good delivery in the last line. You: Oh, so you're one of the... 10 percent... alright... look away in disgust But yes, it's a great one.

You can never run out of things to say. However, you can run out of things that you think are "cool" to say. Learn to explore tangentially related topics, and to listen for openings to new topics.

This is an unusually persistent one. It's more common outside of the community, but within the community, you'll usually hear "just be yourself; oh, by the way, I've redefined 'be yourself' to mean something completely different".

I don't know what you're situation is and what your motivation was to start NoFap, but remember you're probably more likely to actually end up with a girl when you stick to NoFap. Placebo is a wondrous drug.

If the internet has taught me anything, I suspect that the source is a blog who wants you to subscribe to their e-mail newsletter, with no studies in sight. Edit: I was right.

Well, that's not surprising. Reviews of empirical research on NLP indicate that NLP contains numerous factual errors, and has failed to produce reliable results for the claims for effectiveness made by NLP’s originators and proponents. According to Devilly, NLP is no longer as prevalent as it was in the 1970s and 1980s. Criticisms go beyond the lack of empirical evidence for effectiveness; critics say that NLP exhibits pseudoscientific characteristics, title, concepts and terminology. NLP is use…

You will do yourself a great favor by becoming socially apt, yes. But it appears that you've read things in my comment that aren't there. Even if you're simply someone who prefers solitary activities over time spent with large groups of people, you clearly want to improve some aspect of the social life if you're subscribed to r/seduction, and an "I'm an introvert, and will always be one, so this will be harder for me" mentality is clearly counter-productive.

Classifying yourself as an introvert will do more harm than good, because it gives you a rationalization for not approaching or conversing. And claiming that it's impossible to permanently get rid of introversion is a very dangerous limiting belief. You know, even the most outgoing extrovert enjoys some alone time.

You write in an inspirational way—kudos. I agree in a certain way. A person can have acting as a major part of the identity, even if she doesn't act herself. But in the same way, an introvert can have social skills as something that dictates her daily life, but without yet having reached a level where she's comfortable in social situations. That's where the idea of being your best self would come in. Being able to talk to anyone isn't more of an inherent trait for someone who cares about social …

The message is great, so I won't be too much of a Debbie Downer, but it all seems kind of farfetched. If anyone reading this took the concept to heart, great! Skip this post. Claiming that you are whoever you want to be seem dishonest. By those standards, the world's most introvert guy is a social king and a casanova; the world's fattest guy has a dream hollywood body; and I am actually a famous musician and president of the world, just that my ego is stopping me. By telling someone to be the pe…

To be honest, this feels like the pseudoscience of the self-help world. The advice is too vague and brief to actually be applicable, and will probably not alter your life much more than Facebook quotes.

If I'm walking past a group of guys who look like they're about to go jump someone- same shit, look em in the eyes (even smile, even talk to em if you want) and they'll be less likely to do anything to you. They were expecting you to look away and try to ignore em- since you didn't, they get thrown off by it. Couldn't this backfire?

Furthermore, another study showed that men (n = 3,474) were ~50% more likely to pick up female hitchhikers who wore red, and that no other color showed any significant results. Red is the winning color it seems.

This thread yielded surprisingly good answers. But then again, ladies who hang here will likely be able to have more introspection than "I like nice guys." My question: have you felt attraction toward a not-especially-good-looking guy? How come?

I don't remember who said it, but I'll paraphrase: "I have a boyfriend." "Congratulations! I'm happy to hear that you've found someone to spend the rest of your life with!" It should make her realize the imperfections of her current relationship.
