Yeah. Honestly, that's my take too. I know this sub is strident, not without reason, but every intellectual movement needs both people who are strident and people who are willing to message to the broader public. I don't see the point of purity testing anyone messaging about men's issues from a broadly non-crazy misogynist perspective given how small the community doing that currently is.

It's not a knowledge gap - it's a gpa gap. The boys know just as much as the girls. Men’s brains absolutely develop slower than women’s. That is an empirical fact, and should not be taken as a judgment statement. It should not be considered bad to incorporate that fact in our thought process of what causes disparities in childhood education or how to fix it. He did spend time addressing the lack of male teachers & teaching styles which benefit girls more than men.

Mate you’re looking for reasons to be mad. Yeah he didn’t spend the whole podcast aggressively shilling for them - he has his own solution he thinks would work best. But he brought up the changes he thinks would be helpful & discussed them favorably & they were all systemic changes.

You left out incentivizing male teachers & reprioritizing technical school. And, yes, he didn’t explicitly call out some of the implicit discrimination we do see against boys, but he still pushed for the changes we need to address it (namely male teachers). Also the discrimination boys face today (grading bias) is significantly different and less addressable than the discrimination women faced (you’re not allowed here type of shit)

Richard Reeves discusses his book "Of Boys and Men" on the Ezra Klein Show. The conversation covers a lot that is standard knowledge here, but it is interesting, thoughtful, and engaging nonetheless. Several stats and studies that I wasn't aware of & are very good to know came out too.

So on a quick glance at this, looks like men spend about .6 hours (or about 35 min) more all in on all labor for the family? It just kinda seems like, on average, men and women appear to be splitting things roughly equally. 20 or 30 min one way or the other isn’t too crazy.

Yes, of course. Just like any movement. The fact of the matter is that abortion, while it obviously includes gender as a factor, is clearly not a purely, or even mostly, gendered issue. The question of whether we view fetuses as a human life with moral value is one that men have to have a say in. I'm very pro choice because I don't believe that they have any moral value, but if I did? Bullshit that I don't get a say in whether you can kill my child.
