lol pop of america ~318.9 million 11.5 million women were projected to start college fall 2015 Even if 70% (a really generous average of women joining sororities all over the US) join sororities Assume 40% of the women in those sororities are hooking up Given these really generous rough estimates that means about ((.4)(.711.5))/318.9 ~ 1%. So even if the study doesn't include college sorority girls, I think it wouldn't matter too much. That's a lot of women numerically speaking but percentage wi…

Maybe, but I would argue that implied consent isn't a fair expectation even in a drinking and partying situation. The party/hookup culture interactions are pretty American I would say. So you can't assume that everyone knows what you mean when you take someone home. I kind of think of it like, not everyone knew what "Netflix and Chill" was before it became such a thing, so just because you may know what the implications are doesn't mean everyone does. So why not just skip all the drama or don't …

And what I had said was men spend time and money and go on dates with women because they want to fuck AND because of other things. It just seems way over simplified, which is where a lot of misunderstandings happen. And again, what about the woman's desire to have sex? I'm sure she wants to fuck too (eventually) if she's going out with someone. So yeah blah blah there's sexual interest that's all understood by everyone in the situation. But when it comes down to the nitty gritty situation of sex…

Yeah because usually "I'm taking you out because I want to have sex with you" isn't the case, people go on dates because they want to have sex with each other AND a buttload of other reasons including wanting to get to know the person. So yeah, if one persons perception of the date is to get to know the other person and the other person just wants to bone, there's gonna be a misunderstanding and frustration on both ends. That being said, there are plenty of places where you can get sex without h…

Why does she doesn't want to have sex with him == she is not going to be alone with him. I think there is equal responsibility in being vocal about what sexual expectations. There may be many reasons that someone does not want to have sex at any certain time, and just because someone refuses sex at one moment doesn't mean they aren't generally sexually interested in an individual. If a guy assumes his date knows his sexual intentions without making them vocal then that isn't helping anyone. And …

Then do you not believe society and systems/social structures in society change from the bottom up? Systematic change from the "top" (basic example of judicial reforms to reflect the sexist problems with a lot of custody cases) has to be prefaced with pressure from individuals in society. TRP as an organizing force can't help but institute change (however that change is manifested is up to debate, but that's off topic). Attitude changes in society is what moralize issues that force those institu…

There's no point in getting a "who started what" debate. Similarly for buzzwords, just because SJWs use them without knowing what they mean doesn't have anything to do with the fact that "rape divorce" is just as hollow of a buzzword. That being provocative rhetoric for the sake of being provocative is used by extremists on both sides and a "stoop to their level" attitude doesn't get anyone very far. There is not much that you are saying that I disagree with. I think feminism has been perverted …

I'm going to have to disagree that rape is used colloquially that way today, at least in "many instances", especially not when talking about interactions between people. The link you provided is a convenient counter example, however I don't think it demonstrates anything about the connotation of the word rape. Where I find fault with the term "divorce rate" is that it is used by people knowing that the associations with the term are with acts of sexual violence. I highly doubt that most people's…

Assuming that we have a case in which a husband loses his children etc, I don't see where the need to conflate that experience with the experience of rape comes from. Same thing with the issue of prison rape: why try to make a hierarchy of what painful experiences are "worse" than others, instead of addressing them as the different. Losing your children is something that you experience for the rest of your life, but the trauma of rape can also be something that affects someone for the rest of th…
