Thanks for the case in point. DEI is an extremely wide ranging set of policies and objectives. Only a fraction of that could be plausibly interpreted as even being related to what you just said, let alone actually implying anything even close to that sentiment.

It's not a terrible comparison. DEI actually does exist and has real impacts, but most of the people screeching loudly about it have virtually no tangible understanding about it.

For the most part, Redpill is a subset/category of the manosphere.

I don't buy into everything about toxic masculinity, but I do think it a real thing that shows up in a lot of places. One of those places is how men are treated by progressives and SJWs as if they so much agency that they are in total and complete control of their lives and ultimately are responsible for all the bad things that happen around them. It's as if systems thinking disappears as a concept once men are the victims of the system.

Yes, there were more women in colleges than men. But the male population that have received a college degree since women started attended college more has also increased. That's literally a positive sum, not a zero sum.

I won't say there aren't real trade-offs to more equality, but your description doesn't quite match reality. For example, despite more women going to college than ever before, total percent of the US population that has a college degree has increased over time, not stayed the same. That's the opposite of a zero sum game. https://www.statista.com/statistics/184260/educational-attainment-in-the-us/

Dude. Bill Clinton should have been impeached and removed from office for this. Instead Lewinsky was reamed out by the public and democrats pretended like this sort of abuse of power was just personal business. Was she in the wrong too? Probably. But the discrepancy in how they were treated was insane. Fucking your intern as the most powerful man in the world is such a craven abuse of the office that it boggles my mind that the man is still welcome at democrat functions.

I'm not sure about the abuse thing, but i find it plausible. Not that it was "normal" but there was a much wider range of acceptable mysogyny. The example I always go to was the way the media treated Monica Lewinsky. It seemed like every night for years Jay Leno was cracking jokes with her as the punchline. There's also the way teen celebrities were treated... It was frankly pretty sick.

I've not actually seen anyone actually say this or give a hateful response to it, irl or online. Only conversations referencing it.

IMO therapy in general is overrated, for basically everyone. That's not to say I don't think it's potentially useful, just overrated. Therapists are just people you talk to that may or may not have some strategies you can use to improve your mental health and approach to life's problems. They're not wizards in a magic room that wave their wands and make your problems go away. They are people with all the biases and insights of regular people, just with a little more education on the topic than a…

No, I'm saying that OP is wrong and that both KAM and YBMC are both threatening. And if you want to use his logic, you can just as easily hand wave away just about anything, including KAM.

Damn dude. Wrote an entire rant that entirely missed my point. You seem to think I was making the opposite point than I was actually making. Take your anger up with OP, he is the one bending over backwards to justify an obviously sexist targeted statement. I was just pointing out that his exact logic can be used to justify the very things he seems upset about. People shouldn't talk about killing all men, and they shouldn't be going around telling women "your body, my choice". It's not actually t…

I can help you out there. Only women can get pregnant. Yes, it's a riff on "my body my choice", a reference to pregnancy. It's a gendered attack, and you are tying yourself up in knots trying to pretend it is not. It's kinda insane how much you're willing to interpret out a non threating meaning from it while at the same time acting like killallmen was literally about the extermination of all males. Or heck, you reference #metoo as a direct assault on men. Jesus. You need to touch some grass.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/11/24 02:14 AM
2

What the heck do you mean "distance yourself from the gendered nature of it". Are you under the impression that men can get pregnant? And even if you are, do you believe for one second that the people saying this believe men can get pregnant?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/11/24 01:16 AM

By your own logic, no, #killallmen is not an attack on men directly. It's about expressing yhe constant fear women experience because they can't know which men will be the dangerous ones. It's an obvious and clearly contextual statement in a certain cultural zeitgeist, at least per whatever logic you seem to be using. You know, or maybe both are hateful and cruel things to say. Like, my dude, not every single thing is "man good, woman bad".

Multiple things can be true at once. "Your body, my choice" is absolutely a misogynistic attack on women. Killallmen is an attack on men. It's fair to be upset that the latter isn't considered hate by many, but that doesn't make the former just benign pro-life rhetoric.

It's not real even that. It's not especially hard or complicated to court a demographic. They do it with literally everyone else. They just believe that doing so would alienate enough of their coalition that it's not worth it.

I mean, if that was true, it should have been easy to actually respond to. Also, still waiting for that. Edit: dang. And I've been blocked. I guess it's more satisfying to feel like a victim than take a look at what happens in the real world.

You said "yeah" but totally ignored the substance of my point. Circumcision is a lot more common the FGM. But practical outcomes matter.

If you are comparing real-world outcomes and practical consequences, they are not really comparable.

Ultimately, you've gotta find your source of meaning, joy, and grounding somewhere else. If your sense of peace is determined by whether there are a lot of ignorant bigots around you will never find it. The truth is that changing other people is almost never really possible. Your best-case case scenario is typically to get them to modify their behavior around you, and even that is a low probability outcome depending on the circumstance. If your work situation is intolerable, work on an exit stra…

9/10 times I disagree with folks who make statements like this. Because, honestly, I think people should make some effort to make the people around them comfortable, especially when the cost is negligible. This is the 1/10 case. the lady is creating a fairly large nuisance, and accommodating this kind of request in general is just not feasible and she should know that.

Don't men have the right to have their DNA compared to their children? Like I'm pretty sure as the legal guardian that's something you can have done.

I mean, there is no parity between men and women during reproduction. It's just a fundamentally different experience. It's really nothing like the draft.

There's also a feedback loop where the people that participate in the sub keep seeing and reading the same kind of toxic stories with the same antagonists and the same protagonists. It's not that weird that if that's all you read, it's going to warp the way you see the world. It's like turning on conservative radio everyday. Eventually it changes the way you think.

I mean, there's some weird stuff there too lol. Just saying that the comments are broadly on team "men shouldn't have to pay 100% for dates".

Sure. Lots of shitty expectations exist. Just wanted to make it clear that despite maybe approaching the issue a bit differently, I think the folks over there are pretty much on the same page as us on the topic. If you just read the post title, it might not be obvious.

I feel like the OP as well as most of the comments were pretty reasonable. They're basically like this idea is dumb and its being talked about because of tiktok which is a dumb platform. Seems pretty down-to-earth to me.

I still don't get it. What is an example of something you're concerned about? What is a situation in which this would come up?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/08/24 04:35 PM

I'm curious about an example of what you're worried about happening. I can't think of a group of men I've been with where this seemed like a problem.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/08/24 04:23 PM

It's a great idea to have mens a group that gets together. But saying it's "not feminist" doesn't help you, because that's not something to do, that's something to not do. You need an organizing activity or affinity. For example, I'm part of a local "dad's" group. We get together, have a drink or two, and talk about kids or anything but kids. It's an excuse to get away with men who are in the same stage of life and commiserate, celebrate, and support each other.

Part of the problem with all of these conversations, especially online, is that people take extremely generalized and broad statistics and try to apply them to individual lives. And a lot of people are just really bad at relationships.

I mean, it really depends on the man and the woman. Lots of people, both men and women are happier in a relationship and/or married.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/08/24 04:04 AM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
