If it helps you feel better. My ex and I were always 50/50 on income. Almost exact to the dollar each year. Yet I pay $800/month in child support. Now that she's also remarried she has her income, her husband's income, plus 1/3 of my income. Their looking at half mil homes on acreage. While I barley survive in a 900 sqft home in the city. My kids don't even have their own bedrooms at my house.

And yet people argue with me that it's not possible that my ex very nearly made it to a pre trial hearing to set child and spousal support orders without serving me.

Yup. I live in a sub 1000sq ft bungalow in the city. My ex lives in a 5br, 2ba, 2500sqft home in the beautiful countryside. I live on 2/3 of my income. She has a three income household. Her's, her new husband's, and mine. Fathers are required to give up a large portion of their income. But also required to have a safe home for the same children. Now that she's married they're looking to buy a new home. I have to find a way to explain to my young children. Yes, I love their home. No I cannot affo…

I'm not starting that argument. It won't be successful and will only lead to me being displayed in a more negative light. Fwiw, I have 35/65 custody.

It amazes me that men willingly offer less than deserved in divorce. Women on the other hand try to get everything they can and more. You cannot control how close she moves. But you do not have to submit to "family" time with her. Research parallel parenting vs co-parenting. My ex was the most disgusting human during the divorce. As soon as the paperwork dried she felt we are best friends. Cordial. That's all I am with her.

My ex started with an absolute honey deal for her that I agreed to "for the children." It was roughly 75/25. When she filled behind my back and didn't serve me I had to get an attorney and started fighting back. We finally agreed to about a 60/40 split still in her favor. It was her plan. I agreed. Then they rescinded the deal and went for more. I stopped all negotiations. I told her I cannot negotiate with someone who's negotiating in bad faith. I told her will just take it to the judge and let…

My mom had two boys. Before that she was the oldest with five brothers. But I'll always remember when she realized that my daughter wore a facemask in softball. But her grandsons only wore a baseball hat. "Why is her safety more important than the boys?"

As soon as she said she no longer wanted to work to reconcile. As far as I'm concerned I was no longer married in God's eyes. The legal proceedings had no bearing on my married status personally.

Thank you. Good? I've got a great girlfriend as a partner now going on 4 years. Three amazing kids who've been through hell and back. The funny thing is I'm not even mad about her getting married. I'm certainly mad about the lost equity AND the kids losing their home. I'm just tired of all the unashamed congrats she's getting in my face.

Two words. Martial property. You'll get it eventually. But in an equitable split of all assets. You should be taking to an attorney already. If not, you need to arrange it tomorrow.

Find a new hobby or two to keep your mind occupied. She isn't worth the stress of investigating and trying to figure it what happened. My story was exactly the same. The reality is she was mentally prepped and ready for divorce years before the discovery of the affair. My ex used counseling to buy time before the divorce. I truly believe it was never her intent to reconcile.

In the interest of not displacing the kids I let my ex get away with SEVERELY devaluing the martial home. Four years later she has a new husband and is about to make bank selling it. I cannot believe how nice it must be living in a three income home. She also attempted to keep the new car and home while transferring all the debt to me. She got so greedy that I agreed to a reasonable spilt of assets, even though it heavily favored her. She then rescinded that offer and went after more. I got so f…

I remember the exact moment it hit her like a ton of bricks. We're were getting a NASTY snow storm. As she requested me to move out (to save our marriage) I was at my parents' home 30 minutes away. I was helping my parents and their neighbors by snow blowing driveways and walk ways. When I got a call. The snow blower at the martial home broke and she DEMANDED I come fix it. I laughed at her and told her to start shoveling.

This right here! My son had a scrimmage a couple weeks ago that I couldn't attend due to work. But my partner went despite the early start time. The boy's mom was no where to be seen. My ex and I were working on an amicable divorce and separation of assets. Turned out she filed behind my back on the anniversary of our son's death. Sought 95% of my take home pay and nearly made it to the pretrial hearing without serving me. Her attorney attempted service via certified mail. That I never received.

They're a fantastic option. About a 9 on the Rohs scale so they maintain a mirror finish. Relatively cheap because it's not a precious metal. I bought mine for about $30. Very heavy so they spin forever. Plus, when thrown they carry a VERY long and unknown distance. 😂

I'm with you on the school events. My kids attend a small Christian school, that my ex teaches at. Since the divorce I've been an absolute pariah. Made worse that I live a couple towns and 30 minutes away now. I didn't know anybody, none speaks to me. I cannot stand going to their school events. It's been worse this year as my ex got engaged. It's not that they won't. It's opening up the possibility they will. My ex asked me to leave the martial home and children to separate and save our marriage. In her filling she claimed I abandoned the home and children.

Take your dog for some quiet walks. Then find another place to walk. Then another. You're a bit behind for grabbing a new hobby before the holidays. Maybe grab up a gaming system and a couple games you think you'll like. Personally, I love science and space. I play Kerbal Space Program ... a lot. Avoid the bottle. On the dog front. See if there's any local daycare they can go to while you're at work. See if your work will let you work from home a bit while you work out the situation.

Another story time: After separating I've always picked up the kids from school on a certain night for some time together and dinner. Early on in the separation while my ex had a doctor's appointment that night, I'd take the kids home and make dinner there. Several weeks into this, my ex left a "honey do" list on the counter. I was livid. I hadn't been there in weeks. But, I completed every single chore without complaint. Then NEVER stepped foot in the house again. The very next week I informed …

I recommend you get into counseling and try to work things out. Learn to understand each other's needs. But I can totally relate: We had a NASTY snow storm. I "wasn't allowed" to purchase a snow blower at that time. So I shoveled out our driveway. Then the elderly neighbor's, then their elderly neighbor's., etc. I likely shoveled out six long driveways of heavy snow. Upon finally arriving inside I was greeted with, "I can't handle the children anymore and I need you to watch them." No gratitude.…

Noted. Thank you! 9 years to go on CS. If she looks to adjust it I may need that now that there is a bonus in place.
/r/Divorce_Men12/12/25 02:15 PM

Also, my ex caught wind my company was instituting a bonus program. But it wasn't in effect yet. I had to have my boss provide a letter saying there was no current bonus program. Thank God my support didn't include it. When they start it a year after the divorce. They set the bars so high. It was impossible to achieve. I'd have been forced to pay money I want even making.
/r/Divorce_Men11/12/25 09:37 PM

My ex actively attempted to take 90% of my take home pay. Fortunately your attorney is there to advocate for you. You will survive. But changes may need made. Support shouldn't include your OT if you can prove it's not likely to happen. It should take into account she didn't work and could've. Again. This is where your attorney comes in.

This is exactly my case as well. She shopped therapists until she found one that believed all her BS. Then we had separate therapists from the same office. Immediately and on going: no emotion given to her. She's no longer your wife or friend. Lookup and live the grey rock life. Today, you are contacting any local divorced friends. All who their attorneys were. What they liked and didn't like about them. What the up front costs are. Tomorrow, you are calling those attorneys to arrange an initial consultation. You don't need to pick one immediately. But initial consultations with some of the best and nastiest lawyers will help.

OP research parallel parenting. You are not obligated to be friends with the person who caused you trauma. I'm cordial and polite with my ex. We are not friends. You know, I never put that together. This is exactly how my ex was acting towards me during her affair. It was also shortly post partum. Then queue up the, "he's abusive narcissistic" playbook.

Yes. We split down the middle. I didn't speak to her, as soon as she wasn't negotiating in good faith. She tried ... while our son was in the recovery room from surgery ... to persuade me to discuss it. I told her that I offered a very fair offer. They initially accepted it, then wanted more. Since they were no longer negotiating in good faith I was ready to send it to the judge and let them decide. Hey face went pale. She knew that everything would be sold. I was so frustrated and angry by that…

Yup. I've seen this playbook. I tried to be nice to my ex with a roughly 60/40 split. She filed behind my back and very nearly made it to court without serving me. She lost a lot. All the prior negotiations were off the table and I went for 50/50 and nothing else.

My ex told me to go ahead and remove her. My lawyer told me to wait until everything was final. I waited. Talk to your lawyer. Follow their direction.

Nah. I'm sure my ex mentioned all the bs she could think of about me to tell her family. She likely also conveniently didn't mention her affair. I don't care. Her family's views and thoughts about me are no longer my concern.

I have no suggestions. Just know there's another divorced man in Ohio that cares about you. Take life one breath at a time right now. Sometimes that's all we have.

I grew up and still live in NE Ohio. I'm not in Chardon. But we still get our snow storms. My father raised me to plow our driveway, then start down all the neighbors. Never expect payment. I still carry this on today with my kids. Well two weeks after I was asked to leave the house there was one hell of a snow storm. I was staying at my parents' house. So I helped them. Then continued to the neighbors. Taking a coffee break I see my phone is ringing. My (at that time) STBXW had broken the snow …

No doubt. But you'll need to really push through that difference to keep a good relationship with the kids. This will be a tough time. But, in time your children will see through her BS. I'm tearing up with you. Start strong for your kids and to spite her.

My ex tried this. I actually wanted her and the kids to have the house. It's a nice place in a wonderful area. Plus, two of my kids were born there. However she tried the, "I can't pay you out" route. It finally became so frustrating I told her I'd take it to the judge and force the sale of the house. Finally got some responsible negotiations rolling.

About had my wife in tears this morning because it was the umpteenth time she's let our puppy run the house after letting him outside in the morning. This has REPEATEDLY caused problems with the puppy chewing everything, pooping in the house (because she's won't leave him out long enough to finish his business), and generally causing a ton of issues getting out young boys ready for school. He is crate trained and will go in his crate and rest. She just refuses to do so. This morning after tellin…

My wife and I haven't been to MC since our counselor, a woman, didn't intervene when I lost my shit at my wife. Short story I caught my wife in an online affair. Wife tried to blame me for pushing her to it. I wasn't having it at all. Wife hasn't asked to go back since. Actually told me she was going alone to sever ties and get a referral somewhere else. Now wife is seeing her alone for counseling.

Spend 4.5 hours in sub-freezing fields today bagging pheasant. While watching my bird dog and my rambunctious, impulsive 5yo son. I texted that we were on our way and 30 minutes out.
