I'm retired. My wife earns a very good living. We have savings. At the end of the day, my son was suffering in public school. His self esteem was battered on a daily basis. He didn't see an opportunity to succeed. His emotional well being is not trivial. He is so much happier now, that I would pay just about anything.

I absolutely agree that schools are failing our boys. I completely disagree on how. From pre-school through early elementary school, boys are developmentally behind the girls. This is normal. But curricula and standardized testing ignore this and expect both genders to perform at a level that requires the neurodevelopment that (for the most part) only the girls have achieved. When you have sex, you accept that a pregnancy is a possibility. You must support any child you father. You have a choice. Whether or not to have sex. With whom to have sex. Sex can be painful for women. Too little lubrication, bad angle, uncomfortable position, whatever. She says it hurts, you fix the problem (more foreplay, add lube, change position, etc.) and resume. Explain to me why you felt your life was in danger because someone demanded that you change seats. I live in Texas. We have some of the most permissive gun laws in the world. You would be justified in killing a man if he took your personal property and you had a reasonable belief that killing him was the only way to retrieve it. And even Texas won't allow you to kill someone because they were obnoxious and tried to bully you into giving up your seat.

No, thank you. I flew private back when I worked and have access to a private jet whenever I travel for leisure. I'm quite familiar. I don't walk, so my circumstances are unusual. I once missed an important meeting because the airport broke my wheelchair, leaving me stranded until a mechanic could be located. That was my last commercial flight.

Might that have something to with women seeking less demanding (more nurturing) specialties like psychiatry, pediatrics, geriatrics, or family medicine and working outside the hospital? It would seem that doctors who chose some of the more demanding specialties (neurology, cardiology, surgery, etc) would be better represented amongst the hospital staff.

That is short term thinking. I am retired. My wife still works. She has an important job, makes lots of money, and enjoys her work. She has no desire to retire and I see no reason why she should. She absolutely "out works" me. The idea that she would lose respect for me because I was able to retire before she was ready to stop working is absurd. I would be doing something very wrong if I needed a job to command the respect of my wife and children. That would be very beta.

I can't agree with you there. Their foundation has done tremendous work towards addressing global inequality. And there is inequality in the world. Plenty of wealthy people have generously chosen to donate their money to worthy causes (hospitals, universities, libraries, museums, etc.) but did little more than write check. The Gates Foundation actively seeks out and funds solutions to problems of inequality. I think that's nobel.

Lesson Learned: Be the first to take the plea and agree to testify against others. Both parties at guilty, albeit of different things. She should have been supervising her child. And the process by which evidence is tested to identify the alleged rapist can take years as can finding and prosecuting the alleged. In criminal matters, statute of limitations is the time limit for the prosecution to file charges. In civil matters, statute of limitations is the time limit for making a claim. Rape kits are absolutely backlogged. You are correct that they are not usually helpful when the accuser knows the accused. But not all rape accusations are aquaintance rape accusations.

The mother did not know which man was the father. She provided us with a list of the men she could identify as possible fathers. But she didn't even have a name for everyone. In my case, the mother could not have given up the child for adoption without the father's permission. Refusing to grant permission would have prevented the adoption and left the mother with fewer options.

I've never understood men who demand proof that a woman is using birth control. Do you expect to accompany her to the gynecologist for an ultrasound of her IUD? Where is this that women can give up their child for adoption at any time? When my wife and I adopted, we had to track down ALL of the potential fathers and get them to consent to paternity tests and/or grant us permission to adopt their child (or at least prove that we had made very reasonable to locate them). The two potential fathers who were incarcerated gave us the most difficulty....and they were in no position to support their child financially, emotionally, or otherwise.
