Ah. I wasn't trying to say that nobody can have that insecurity and/or that it's bad to have it. Just that it doesn't have to be that way. That's why I broke down the thought process. Judging by the downvotes though, this wasn't the right place for that.

Because they're incompetent. They rely on women for so much that they can't actually imagine being truly self supporting/happy without a woman around to baby step them emotionally and feed their fragile egos at the absolute least. The way men are able to control most of the world despite being less than half the population is by being oppressive. Emotional intelligence makes oppressive behavior intolerable so there's a lot of very deliberate male socialization designed to make them self centered and trample over others for their own benefit.
