Pleasant update 5 years laterI am in that second group and worry a lot about never being able to pull out of this tailspin. I want so badly to feel differently, but I don't know how to genuinely feel good about what's left in front of me. How do you ever become content again knowing your life going forward will never be as good? How do you not just feel like it's pointless? | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/12/23 07:05 PM
Miss companionshipThis just doesn't work for me. I have a sweet old dog that I love, but as much as we can hang out or go adventuring, her company doesn't meet that social human need. She can't joke with me, riff on common experiences, or understand me. Until the very last year of my marriage, I had that person in my corner who wanted to come home to me and talk every day. The last year when she found her AP online, though, was hell for me. I'm 9mo in too, hoping all the social activities eventually pan out | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/10/23 08:20 PM
How to rebuild self-worth after being left?Dating again feels so intimidating in this world. Have had pretty middling results just making friends since this all happened, so my confidence in my social skills lately is pretty low. Have told myself I'd wait a year and focus on health, finances, kids, and finding my place and likes as a single guy before I actively try to date. If someone comes along in the meantime I wouldn't say no, but I don't think I routinely encounter single women closer to my age at this point. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/09/23 02:57 PM
How to rebuild self-worth after being left? Thanks for the encouraging words! I'll have to work on reframing it as a second chance. When I think back, I loved a ton of my life when we were together as a family until the last couple years. Need to remember the things that I was unsatisfied with and look at the future as a chance to try again and avoid those things. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/09/23 02:47 PM
Let her go!!Nah, fuck that. How about they grow up and say "hey hon, I'd really appreciate it if you would put dirty glasses in the dishwasher right away instead of leaving them on the counter. I understand that it's not a big deal to you, but would you do this for me?" Both opinions are valid, so shouldn't the person asking the other to change actually recognize that they're the one imposing on the other? Then, if the guy refuses and is shitty after that, sure, he's an ass. Guaranteed if there was discussi… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/07/23 06:00 PM
