They still think that they have "hippie cred". The emotional basis of all their arguments still comes out of how American society was in the '60s and '70s. In a simpler sense, the cartoon villain version of this is throwing books into a recycling machine, saying "What do you mean by censorship? Censorship means different things in different contexts."
