I totally agree the current system is unfair, it’s ridiculous that my step dad has to fight for custody of a child that when with his mother is starved for days because she forgot about him. No, I don’t think the blame is one men, sorry if it came off that way. I think it’s a two way street. A relationship and a marriage is a partnership and thus both parties share responsibility for its success and failure. The point of alimony is because traditionally, the woman didn’t have a job, never worked a career in her life, and has only done housework type stuff, so alimony is supposed to allow her to live. There’s also plenty of cases where in a divorce a husband gets paid alimony (my uncle being one of them) because he makes less than her.
