Something I told them too. Even cited the verse. They said that I should practice forgiveness

I'm certainly not. Making out with multiple people and taking $600 extra dollars a month to send to her mom on top of the 1000 a month we agreed on is certainly stealing. Point blank my mom told me that couples are able to work through cheating. Wish I was kidding.

Well if making out with multiple people, gossiping about me being an absent father (despite her being the one that went out to the clubs every other weekend), and sending her mom an extra $600 a month to watch our kids on top of the 1000 we agreed on isn't lied, gossiped, and stole doesn't line up then just let me know. I spoke with my family yesterday and they said they didn't know the whole story so it whatever. Not that I need to prove anything to a faceless person on the internet.

The reason my family isn't on my side is because they don't believe in divorce and I initiated it.

You def understand. My partner was their point of contact because they treated me in a way I never understood. They would punish me and treat me poorly based off of their personification of who I was and not who I actually am. If that makes sense. There were times where I was just floored by the way they treated me. However, I found out very quickly that it was a self projection of the way that they treat people and they would punish me based off of how they would respond in the situation. You'r…

So how does she feel? Does she want the divorce? If she does, it's better to rip the bandaid off and move on. I loved my ex-wife too but sometimes people having access to your life is damaging and we don't deserve that.

Intimacy and attraction is very important. However, you're about to go into what is considered one of the most stressful things you can every put yourself through. Because of what, because you're bored? Listen, I initiated my divorce because there was no other way. She lied to me about finances (like $2000/month amounts), cheated on me, dragged my name through the mud, spread all of our intermarital issues, left me with the kids on the weekend to go to drag shows, isolated me from my friends, an…

My wife started making out with other women before our divorce. I just don't appreciate that behavior and it's crossing a boundary. She would have been appalled if I made out with another dude.

I think you're going to stress yourself thinking things out rationally. What she did was very irrational, at the core of it. It sounds like her parents took priority over you, there's a good chance they were talking negatively about you behind your back. Emotionally you're in a delicate place, but you have value. Clearly you're willing to do things for your partner that MANY women want out of a man. That's something that you have value wise, is that you're willing to put that effort into your pa…

I think she put it bluntly that about the decision between you and her parents comment. I'm very sorry, I couldn't imagine the pain you're currently going through. You don't know it now but you shouldn't be second place to anybody. She's a coward to not even give you an opportunity to bridge the gap. My best advice in the coping process is to utilize therapy, vent on this sub reddit as much as you can, celebrate the small victories. As I'm sure getting up in the morning is difficult to do. Take …

Sure bro bro, if we become gay I'll hit you up lmao. But yeah there's only so much you can really do to try to pull someone out of it. Then when you start to do your own thing for the betterment of yourself it becomes an act of rebellion in a way. I put together a workout plan and a very basic nutrition advice, like just maintain a calorie deficit and eat what you want to start. However, she took everything to her girlfriends so they all just shit on me anyway. It's certainly easy to feel taken …

Oh I agree, a big part of maintaining your mental health is surrounding yourself with people that genuinely want the best for you. My family was unsupportive, unappreciative, and very dismissive of my passions and interests. I cut off a lot of those family, and my new girl pretty much taught me to love myself again. Just hearing that I'm enough was enough to make me choke up.

I think a lot of people really neglect the trio like you said and it will effect your mental health. It's really a combination of how you live your day to day that allows you to thrive mentally. If you fuel your body with garbage, you in return will feel like garbage. If you don't make any effort to maintain your spending, you will feel stressed when you have no savings or when a large bill that comes in. If you're a sloth and don't maintain some form of physical activity, your body won't operat…

My wife was very controlling and when I made steps to make healthier life decisions, she got very insecure. For the longest time, she blamed me for not helping her with her depression. I was just confused, I never knew what she wanted, she never knew what she wanted. I told her to get into therapy, she said it wouldn't have helped and that I should have been the one to call the therapist. Little did I know that she was actually declining therapy when she was going to the doctors. She said that I…

Dude, what a miserable situation. Unfortunately, people like the ones we married are just very entitled and they believe they're owed something. However, that entitlement starts to override basic respect for their partner and then eventually you aren't even allowed to have your own feelings over the situation. Believe me I came from a very Christian family and the divorce will not make things any easier with your family. But you deserve to be heard and treated with respect. Let her try to ruin y…

I have two kids, and my divorce was actually a dissolution. There's no way we could afford to go through a formal divorce. I told my ex that I spent years being 2nd place to her friends and her parents and I was done being treated second class to everyone else. My concerns when it came to her gossiping, manipulating situations, lying, being frivolous with our spending all were being clowned on by her and her girl friends it never mattered what I thought or said. So mine was a long time coming. S…

Well let's try to understand where you're at. I can tell you I was in your position and I didn't regret my decision to leave the marriage. My wife begged me to stay, she promised to fix everything that I ever had an issue with. Her spending habits, focusing on her health more, stopping her gossiping, giving up frequent drag shows and clubbing. But it was too late, because she betrayed my trust, would never stick her neck out for me, and she would air out our dirty laundry all the time. She manip…

I initiated the divorce, but I think that it's fair to say I was miserable for a long time before I did. My lightbulb moment when I realized I would be better off without her was when I found many amazing relationships I had were deteriorating. Then she would drip feed me negative things people were saying during arguments. I realized she was taking all of our issues outside of our marriage. Having your life discrete is a peace that is unmatched.

Lmao, we don't need to go to court translates to "I don't have any money for attorney fees, and I know it's not going to go through anyway." Hold that head up high king.

Of course, I believe you have the right to know since I opened up the conversation. Yeah they're odd, massive victim complex too. They wanted to reconcile and I put into text my problems going over the details about how they think the worse of me, making me out to be an absent father, and being dishonest to the family about me keeping the kids from them. They said that I was keeping the kids from them as a power thing, and I explained it was so my parenting wasn't being put in a position to be j…

That is a very big question, but let me explain it thoroughly so you have the big picture. See my parents throughout my entire life always looked for the worst in me. Just some background, they've always been big on control. They are pretty well off so they'd dangle a carrot in front of you and they'd use that carrot to control you if you took it. Hence why I never let them help me pay for my college. And why my sister had to go without a car for a little bit because they threatened to report th…

Well silver lining is that you'll be receiving child support if you choose to collect it. She can't just "keep the house" if you guys both own it. Some of these ladies be delusional for real. Your kids would rather see you happy in the long run. They don't know that now but they will as they get older. Keep your head high and do what's best for you and the kids. I'm certain that you didn't take it lightly

Honestly, it's sometimes not even being able to overrule her. Because you shouldn't of had to do that. Mothers tend to become so rigid with their parenting that they believe they're the only ones that can do it. My partner and her mom once were hovering over me trying to tell me how to do it when I was putting my daughter in her car seat and I just said, "holy shit I can put my daughter in a car seat, you both can fuck off." Her dad was the only one was was just like, you guys are up his ass, wh…

Thanks you, that means a lot. You're right the truth doesn't really matter when people rather push a certain narrative about you anyway. My mom was trying to tell me it was just my wife and the kids and I was never anywhere to be found. I just told her to look at every picture of my son and tell me I wasn't in it.

It's actually really nice to have "me" time without feeling guilty about it. Any time I ever wanted to do something I was constantly berated with it so eventually I didn't do anything.

Ultimately your children will realize that and remember how much their father was there for them. Keep it up!

I feel like mine was pretty delusional in the same way. So she'd take every opportunity to judge my parenting, doesn't matter what I'm doing. It is annoying, but they have to figure it out one way or another and we're better off as a result. I remember when my ex was trying to get me back and she straight up said "I even cook now." Like give me a break, my ex got mad at me for saying that she needs to eat at home more because she was spending 800 in fast food per month. It was madness.

It hurts. The gaslighting is a lot to deal with and that's why people like us get stuck into toxic relationships. Bursting the brain is relatable, I remember just being in my garage working out and I just threw a glass mason jar because I was so upset. I was being dragged to a new low everytime I tried to understand her.

This is huge. We divorced after 8 years and I remember almost pleading for her to realize how her actions effected me. Her response was "well we're different people so we should expect to be treated differently." Then it became that I was a tit for tat kind of guy because I treated her the same way she treated me (spoiler alert she hated it). Nothing ever changed though, even when she was pissed at the exact same things she never stopped doing them.
