In her situation if that was my concern, regardless of me having a cig or not, I'd have just said "No, sorry I don't have any on me". If she's concerned about informing them that she has a phone, take your phone out and pretend to be texting or what not. Obvious you have a phone, it's unlocked and you're holding it.
