This. If women still expect me to pay on the first date, I'm going to be extremely picky about who I take on a first date.

Geez I felt like it was only 10-15 years ago where most parents still preferred males because they were “simpler” than women and had more power, more earning potential, more rights, fewer issues with safety, and are guaranteed to keep their last names for life.

When I read this post I immediately thought of the women I met from online dating. That messy environment brings the worst out of both genders. Women I know IRL or met through mutual friends are far more pleasant and reasonable.

Yes it does happen. They're quite easy to spot in online dating profiles (and social media if they publicly share it), and their entitlement carries over IRL too.

Geez what's the point of contracts at all (in any context, not just sex) if anyone can claim they were forced to sign one by force, rendering the contract invalid?

Make them sign a contract. Some celebrities actually do that

People with NPD don't know how to turn those tactics off, always have something to hide (selfish intentions, usually), are always vague, lack maturity, and throw huge hissy fits / temper tantrums when they don't get their way. They also lie all the time, and never take responsibility when sh** hits the proverbial fan. Normal people take responsibility and improve themselves. Normal people know how to read the room, switch between teasing / playful banter, and honest / serious conversation, commu…

There are lots of shady things dating apps do to neuter the experience for free users. Hinge IMO is the worst offender. They will show you 90% morbidly obese women who nobody would give a chance on, and will show your profile to fewer girls beyond the initial 'boost' you may get as a new user. It wasn't until after I started subscribing to Hinge Premium, where they started showing me more pretty girls consistently without having to waste time rejecting more ugly girls.

Yes they do. Good smile and body language matters to both genders. I've rejected plenty of girls online who were decent looking and not fat, but their facial expressions and body language told me they're not fun.

If I sink tons of money, time and effort into my dating life, I expect the girls I want to date to be doing the same.

I recently went on a date where I didn't plan much other than show up at a mall (lol) then the girl took initiative and suggested stuff to do while we were there. It was great feeling like a 2-person team rather than see your date just twiddling their thumbs wondering how next I will progress with the date.

That's the thing - neg, sarcasm and playful teasing all go misinterpreted so it feels like I have no choice but to go 'nice guy'

So when you practiced this in online chatrooms, do you eventually find a 'hook point' where they get more invested in talking to you? Because big issue im having with online dating now is that most girls still give me unimpressively short answers, and when I try to challenge her to talk more she ends the conversation.

starting out kind of cold and unimpressed My big problem with online dating conversations right now is that when I give the slightest neg or hint of being unimpressed with her messages, she ends the convo. And this can be one of many reasons: 1) She had issues and got too sensitive. 2) She determined we genuinely would not get along. 3) She misinterpreted my neg for being an insult rather than a tease. 4) I negged too soon and I should have built more rapport and trust somehow. And since it's so…

Parents have conditioned children to not talk to strangers out of safety fears and this carries over into adulthood. Not to mention the news keeps throwing negative things into your face day in and day out until everyone things everybody is a serial killer until proven innocent. Once you start approaching you'll find most people are genuine human beings that aren't out to take advantage of you, that's when the approach anxiety stops.

It's creepy unless you're really trying to reconnect with someone you genuinely knew. I've been on the receiving end. You start wondering what else he/she knows about you that you're unaware of and get shivers.

I also used to believe that 'jetset lifestyle' with flamethrowers really was the way to success with women, but learned it's also a lifestyle that few can relate to. You ever wonder how lots of average looking ordinary people have spouses? The trick is to be able to enjoy and find humor in the mundane of everyday life.

Hate to be harsh but you sound like someone who is desperate for any attention from any girl who is willing to give you any. Which is a turn off. Assuming you are in the gymnastics group for gymnastics first, girls second, engage all the girls to develop rapport and see who you vibe with best before asking one out. If you are doing gymnastics just to meet girls, the girls will realize this and find you are a creep.

The bad reputation comes from 1) handling rejections poorly, or 2) being known as a player. In that gymnastics group, better pick one or two to ask out rather than ask out all of them.

Finding where all my type of girls are congregating at, and finding attractive girls who aren't taken already. I have no problems approaching and building rapport but good girls are few and far between

My openers change depending on where I'm at in life because recycling the same canned lines makes things feel forced. I try to involve the girl in my life situations or comment about her, or both. Usually starts with: "You look like you......." Or "Excuse me I need a girls opinion on something......"

In my experience foreign women are the most active online since many of them are new to the area and don't know anyone or anything. I've had too many convos starting with "are you from here" or "how long have you been here" I am into locals, not foreigners, so I'm jaded from seeing foreigners. As for how, there was no how for me. They dominate the online population where I live

I need a video of someone "reading" multiple girls beyond their profiles. I agree with that strategy but I find it so hard to see what a girl is like, especially if the girl obviously half-assed their profile.

Carry yourself as a man who is taller than you actually are. End of story. (Probably more difficult to show this through online dating though)

I agree. As it is, online dating is highly un-organic (as with most tech). I am not going back to online dating until there's a new app that is as disruptive as the advent of Tinder.

What really f***ing sucks about Coffee meets Bagel is how they shove ~30 profiles at You daily, and you have to swipe through them all by noon the next day or else they're "gone" and you're shown a new batch. Terrible framework imo

I wish I could agree with you but what I love is/was mostly full of solo and male dominated activities. It does pay to learn to explore other interests. Life is too boring doing the same sh** over and over again, which also keeps you stuck with the same people, same social circles, same life stories. My personal rule is to try something new for a long enough time until I develop a very strong polarizing opinion of it (love, or deeply hate) then I move on to something else.

Add Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman. In the middle of the book right now and I'm in love with it.

I need help on how to change my mindset so that I can find things interesting and/or spark some curiosity in myself, because in my eyes I've seen and done everything the world has to offer, which keeps me from going out where the girls are.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
