My best looking friends and the hottest girls at my college exclusively dated classmates who were also extremely good looking, charismatic, athletic and (here's where status comes in) from well-off families. Many of them went on to marry these good looking guys their own age out of college - many of whom got great career opportunities via family connections and other varieties of nepotism. My husband is a total smoke show; over 6 foot, PhD from MIT, makes 6 figures, European (I never really dated American guys despite being from the US). He also has crazy baby fever at the moment so we're ahem busy doing that... Needless to say I'm enjoying the process and no hard decisions here.
