What makes you say that? Do you have evidence to back up that claim, or is it just a gut feeling? I ask, because gut feelings when it comes to dating are often the opposite of the truth.

You're right, they aren't entitled to it, but the double standards around restrictions about what is acceptable for a man to do when asking a woman out, compared to vice versa is huge. And he does have a good point, that those restrictions magically go away for "hot dudes"

Oh, believe me, I know full democracy is a TERRIBLE system. It's just better than most of the alternatives we've used so far. Also, you are talking about in a fictional universe, where the majority of the use of the military is to fight hiveminded aliens hellbent on destroying humanity, rather than other humans.

That's an even worse idea than only letting the rich vote. Letting only people who signed up for an entity who's purpose is to expel physical force be the only ones who have a say?

In the US at least, there is the right to a speedy trial. However, that right is often waived, as likely happened in this instance. Perhaps Tyler and his lawyer believed that the extra time to prepare for the trial was worth the time spent in jail.
