| 0 | How is feminism not socially acceptable bigotry?I'm glad we both agree that feminism is not bigotry. The discussion about its outcomes is an interesting one. I agree that misandry should stop, as should misogyny and all other forms of hate. | /r/MensRights | 02/11/13 06:35 AM |
| 0 | How is feminism not socially acceptable bigotry?"Got the dictionary to agree with them"? I believe I have been successfully trolled. | /r/MensRights | 02/11/13 06:24 AM |
| 2 | How is feminism not socially acceptable bigotry?Point taken on possible condescending tone. "According to the definition of the word..." Our views on the failings of feminism do not change the ideal of feminism. Feminism is a subset of Egalitarianism. It is simply not inherent in the definition of feminism for it to be bigoted. That is my response to the question raised in the post title. That is why feminism is not bigotry, by definition. Any bigotry in feminism is a result of its proponents, not its ideal. | /r/MensRights | 02/11/13 06:18 AM |
| -1 | How is feminism not socially acceptable bigotry?Read the dictionary. It is supposed to be a synonym for egalitarianism, but specific to gender. Just like nationalism isn't inherently xenophobia, feminism isn't inherently bigotry. My 2 cents. | /r/MensRights | 02/11/13 04:16 AM |
| 3 | Intimate partner violence predictors according to United NationsHaven't read the whole study but the graphic clearly states "Factors Associated" not "Factors Causing." Might be just as easy to put "Being Chinese" up there, assuming the Chinese suffer domestic violence at similar rates as the rest of the world. Causality v. Correlation. I know this community has picked over the "rape" stats. Is someone able to provide stats that cast a shadow over this correlation? | /r/MensRights | 05/09/13 06:40 AM |
| 1 | What the hell CNN: "How do I raise a boy not to be a rapist?"I recall hearing an interview on the radio, npr maybe, about a book that compared parents of high needs kids. Autism, down syndrome, deafness, and I believe the author chose to also interview parents of juvenile delinquents. During the interview I recall the author attempting to convey they point that for some offenders, it has absolutely nothing to do with the parenting. EDIT Author is Andrew Solomon. This article on the book at NYTimes.com states: Mr. Solomon said he included criminal children… | /r/MensRights | 23/03/13 03:58 AM |
| 1 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".Thanks for sharing. I can only find the abstract. Looking forward to reading this one when I can find a copy. Thanks again for the post! Have an upvote. | /r/MensRights | 19/03/13 02:06 AM |
| 1 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".Yup, I got lost in the weeds for sure. The data about gender differences in the recollection rates of documented abuses helped me wrap my head around the disparity between the 12 month data and the lifetime data. Very interesting stuff, thanks for assisting my digestion of the data. | /r/MensRights | 19/03/13 01:46 AM |
| 1 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".I agree that this discussion is a response to the gender focused effort to "teach men not to rape," or more specifically, the attempt at poignant satire the submitted rebuttal poster makes. While I still don't like the submitted poster, I greatly appreciate the discourse regarding gender statistics of rape. | /r/MensRights | 19/03/13 01:32 AM |

| 5 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".I reread the section again to clarify myself. Thanks for drawing my eye back to it, I definitely missed some things. According to the survey, 1.1% of U.S. women were "Raped" in the last 12 months and 5.6% were subjected to "Other Sexual Violence." The number of male respondents to the survey who were "Raped" in the last 12 months was small enough to be not be reliable to speak statistically for the population so they put asterisks. 5.3% reported experiencing "Other Sexual Violence" In summation:… | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 06:55 AM |
| -1 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape"."There are more than enough women who commit statutory rape, date rape, and coercion rape to justify not making a campaign against date rape solely about men! I absolutely agree we should teach EVERYBODY not to rape. Just leave out the pointless sexism that ignores the boys and men who have been taken advantaged of by female rapists." Well worded! Have an upvote. *edit: bah. I just noticed the unnecessarily gender-ed last sentence. Ideally: "Just leave out the the pointless sexism that ignores t… | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 05:54 AM |
| 2 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".This study goes a long way in stating the shortcomings of the current definitions of rape. A search for "female" through the document will reveal many interesting passages. *edit: added quotes around "female" | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 05:52 AM |
| 6 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".This is the report I located, and it may be the wrong one because it doesn't seem to support the claim. | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 05:50 AM |
| -1 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".I disagree. Please support this number. | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 05:48 AM |
| -4 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".I think it is a soft comparison because of the skewed stats. Current stats show men as perpetrators in the vast preponderance of rape, whereas (and someone please feel free to quote a some stats) the percentage of perpetrators of theft who are minorities is not as skewed. NEXT DAY EDIT Looks like the data for gender of the perpetrators of rape might not be as skewed as I have been led to believe. This helped me feel far less secure about my current belief that men are the main perpetrators of ra… | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 05:44 AM |
| 3 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".Really interesting! Thanks for linking the picture. I read a few papers linked in this response tree that talk about disproportionate sentencing and have subsequently also found papers discussing under-reporting/charging due definitions and cultural bias, evidenced in the very definition of rape (see final link of this comment.) I believe you are referring to this CDC study from 2010, however I am unable to understand how it supports your "women committed 40% of rape in 2010" belief. The section… | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 05:26 AM |
| 3 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".Please link stats backing up the claim that "Men aren't close to 100% of the rape perpetrators." | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 05:01 AM |
| 2 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".Interesting side discussion! Thanks for your input. Expect an upvote. Do you have any data that sexual assaults or rapes by women are occuring? I've only seen data to the contrary. Thanks for your time. | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 04:36 AM |
| 1 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".I was so excited for your link! However, I feel it missed the mark of backing up your argument. I really want to see documentation of research on under-reporting or under-prosecuting of women as rapists. Please link if you know any. The article you linked, links to, this paper which states that the research on these matters is lacking, and poses many excellent research questions. Even so, I have not seen data even hinting that there is rampant "rape by women, unrecognized by society" scandal bre… | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 04:24 AM |
| -4 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".I think his argument doesn't fit because of the difference between majority, 51%, v. nearly 3 standard deviations from natural, 98.2%. NEXT DAY EDIT This helped me feel far less secure about my current belief that men are the main perpetrators of rape. Especially the reply. | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 04:15 AM |
| -9 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".I have trouble with this dismissal because of the difference between majority (more than 50%) and 98.2% Also because you use similar logic when you attribute a single ad campaign to all feminists in your joke, making your argument similarly silly to my mind. I appreciate your attempt at sarcasm! edited for spelling and formatting and for being wrong This helped me feel far less secure about my current belief that men are the main perpetrators of rape. Especially the reply. | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 04:13 AM |
| 2 | AVfM has a new graphic in response to "teach men not to rape".Sleeping on the highway might make you culpable for causing an accident or getting yourself hurt. I am not convinced that using a bank qualifies as gross negligence to personal safety. Further it neglects the agency of the criminal. Not so simple. | /r/MensRights | 18/03/13 04:09 AM |

This is obviously a thought provoking response, please upvote it for adding to the conversation. /endedit Not sure why you are currently at negative votes. Your response closely parallels my initial aversion to this particular campaign attempt. You add to the conversation, have an upvote.
