If this even gets a mention at the school I work at I’ll be bowled over. Not that there’ll be any hanging space for this poster between the UK Feminista propaganda and every variation of the gay flag going.

I don’t get not being happy for any kind of tip. The tipping thing in America bugs me - here unless you’re going the extra mile and doing more than your job description, you’re getting a thank you at best from customers.

Interestingly drug would also be used by many English English speakers too. It’s probably another case where what we now call irregular verbs used to be the norm. When the language modernised and people began to spread out, if a past form was forgotten it started to be replaced by “present form”-ed (in this case drag-g-ed)

Why is this not national radio? I have to go to work and listen to the drivel that is Radio 1 and I could instead have Dani the savage making me laugh.

Male or female I would avoid a fight at all costs for “civil” means to sort the dispute. If I were hit and i wasn’t in immediate danger it would be: 1) Verbally warn I will defend by restraint if doesn’t stop. 2) Restrain to best of abilities and try to pin down, warning I will use force if necessary. 3) If neither works they’d get a final warning before I fought back with the aim of winding or slowing them down enough to get away for further help. I’d just pray that there was a camera around if…

If I remember right there’s always been a lady (certainly in the new ones the nephews watched) and the station master was black.

For context of those who may not know of Fireman Sam, he is a children’s tv character that was adopted by most UK firefighting brigades as their mascot. Now that the term FireMAN is deemed offensive and oppressive he’s being replaced across the country. In Lincolnshire he’s being replaced with a pair of anthropomorphised fire hydrants one blue and one pink - which leads me to wonder why nobody’s complaining about that too.

Here in the UK girls have been part of the UKSA for 40 years - longer than my 18 years in the movement. It came down to equality laws that they had to be accepted. In contrast because the Guides have a Royal Charter they do not have to allow boys in. I don’t know much about the Girl Scouts of America program but our Guides to my knowledge still run a more traditional “female roles” program very different program to the UKSA. If you have girls that want to go camping or take part in more active a…

They’ve just been discussing this on BBC news with Jess Tye from the ASA and I can see that there was just no winning with this and the VW ad. Both parents will still do these roles but we are getting to the point where we can only show men cleaning and women fixing cars (and have I just stood in it by suggesting this?). I’d like to see what others opinions are on this in the real world. JT:Showing hapless dads is stereotype- BBC: [Philadelphia] chose men so that we didn’t show mums caring for t…
