You're over thinking it. When you're learning to swim should you jump in a pool or gradually take small steps unrtil you're comfortable? Work on your own confidence (which sounds very small brother), invest in yourself, and set small goals. It's good you're getting out of your comfort zone. I've been doing it for a few years and I'm still anxious when approaching. It takes years of practice to get good at anything, keep challenging yourself.
