Railing against Santa Claus is obviously pointless in the grand scheme of things, and may be worth dispelling the myth of, but it’s not a major point. I see religion as a similar thing. It’s long been documented that religion is typically used as a pretense to defend damaging practices, because people read into it based on their preconceived notions. That doesn’t make it a problem, that makes it an excuse used to justify problems. And also, my take is that sure, you can condemn religion as a whole, but also, why bother unless the person is actively being harmful with it? You can do whatever you want up until the point of either causing or advocating harm against others.
