Quite frankly, I would suggest a therapist versed in men’s issues and spending more time in healthier, IRL co-ed social circles. You seem to have a distorted view of women probably due to your age and the internet. Yes women on average are pickier and are there endless “ick” memes about men— but that’s not the full picture. Women are people. Are there women who are shitty communicators and not interested in committing deeply and will drop you at any minor inconvenience? Yes. But there are also m…

This sounds insanely difficult. I have had to take breaks from social media because the comment sections of certain posts wear on my self esteem. I’m 30, in a healthy LTR, but it still gets to me. I can’t imagine being in an intimate relationship with someone like this. I wish you healing and healthy community.

Find healthy, long-lasting marriages around you. Do these assumptions hold true?

Sorry to butt into your thread, but in the past I have used Psychology Today and it’s Specialities filters and that’s been very useful to me. I don’t have experience with your specific situation, so take it with a grain of salt, but there is a “Men’s issues” filter on there that may point you in the right direction.

How many healthy long-term relationships do you know of IRL that fit this narrative? How many relationships or people do you know that don’t? Every relationship and person is unique, and the reasons why people divorce are not so simple. Redpill literally preys on your fears and sells you a simple scary story about what women and relationships are like. They intentionally feed your insecurities and give you new ones so that you keep coming back to the $content$ to figure out how to protect yourse…

I hear what you are saying in your first 3 paragraphs. We could debate counterpoints ad Infinitum. But the point for me remains that “traditionalism” is not useful critical language to me or my communities. It doesn’t match my history or lived experience nor those of my culture. If the language is useful to you and your deconstruction of gendered power structures, more power to you. I’m just not sure the language translates universally to highlight what you are naming as the issues with our curr…

Does the proportion really matter? Just because it’s a minority community doesn’t mean we ignore it. It’s part of human history and potential isn’t it? Allegedly 🤷 I can’t speak for all matriarchal communities but there were certainly some that were more focused on the needs of the community vs the individual and living more sustainably in the environment. Whether this was caused or correlated idk but it happened. Because gender roles are inevitable? But the flexibility and healthiness of those …

I don’t think this works adequately to describe the difference between a traditionally patriarchal system vs a traditionally matriarchal system. Lots of cultures are traditionally matriarchal. In native communities, we talk about how going back to traditional values is kind of a solution to patriarchy because many communities were traditionally matriarchal and more balanced.

Wwhat would you name it?

Not impossible but improbable. Most marriages and relationships probably end because of incompatibility and issues like lack of communication and connection. In my experience, once you develop intimacy with someone you care about and share common goals with, you’re motivated to cultivate that relationship vs jumping to something different and new. You’d have to start all over and depending on where you are at in life, and what you are trying to accomplish, this isn’t a super appealing thought (i…

It’s really cool how connection and life experience brought you back to a more grounded place around relationships and masculinity. It is hard to find those role models. They exist, but they are harder to find online because men with healthy, stable relationships (romantic, platonic, self) are not necessarily incentivized to talk about those things openly. Meanwhile, red pill culture monetizes all the negativity they peddle and people are drawn to that so algorithms boost it. I asked my partner …

Congrats and welcome to the beginning of a healthier perspective on relationships. Out of curiosity, was there a moment or concept that began the deconstruction of rp ideology for you? As far as continuing to deconstruct, I suggest reading or listening to men who are also working on deconstructing toxic myths about masculinity and/or are in healthy, happy, balanced relationships. The actor Jason Baldoni has a couple of books (one for a younger audience, one for a more adult audience) and a podca…

My take on it is this: patriarchy is an appropriately gendered term because it accurately describes the gender roles we are assigned under this system. As women, we are wives, daughters, or whores to the “father” figure. As men, you are the father figure or being groomed to become the father figure. Non binary people and other genders are not even seen. This myth of men having to become the provider, father-figure type masculine man who is in charge of everything in our society is part of the pr…

Look further out then… regret in your 60s, 90s, on your deathbed. If nothing comes to mind now just keep it in the back of your head. This next part is unsolicited advice, but I’m getting the vibe you are feeling really stuck. Maybe try to gain some radically different, positive perspective. Travel to a vastly different country, try an internet detox, read a book from a perspective that feels very new to you. Below are some books that you could try. The Plank book was recommended but I’ve never …

Whenever I feel envy about things I was robbed of in life that I didn’t have control over, I think about the things that I have control over now. What things are you going to regret not having done in your 30s once you get to your 40s? Learn how to self-soothe in situations where ur rage is triggered, then channel that energy into accomplishing things that make you feel alive and fulfilled. I know it has nothing to do with sex, but unless you are interested in hiring a sex worker, you don’t real…

This! And even if OP doesn’t feel like ready to share yet, journaling those thoughts may help process them as well.
