An echo chamber? Is that what we call a circlejerk now? Queue the "women can't jerk each other" responses.

Well, I was comparing nations to people on a macro scale. In other words, we never went to full scale war because of MAD, and that was for the best. If the proxy wars could have been avoided that would have been better, but I digress. As for the variables: that's the price of freedom. You can't have freedom and total security-only one of them. That's why Benjamin Franklin said "those that would give up essential liberties to obtain a little temporary security deserve neither."

Well, if I lose it then I hope that whoever I attack is as equally as armed as I am and takes me out. See where I'm going with this? If everyone else that is responsible is armed, then I'm no more a threat to them than they are to me. We will all get along until we decide we don't care to get shot. It always reminds me of nuclear weapons. Do you think Russia and us would have been so peaceful throughout the Cold War if we didn't have Mutually Assured Destruction?

That's a valid concern. But as long as I'm still allowed to defend myself against those people I don't see what the problem is. Sure, I worry about it. But I'd rather worry about it and be able to do something about it than to worry about it and be forced to accept death because the nanny state didn't think I was responsible enough to defend myself.

It's too long for me. I'll keep mine loaded, one in the chamber and ready to go in 1.5 seconds. What if your other hand is injured? What if you need your other hand for closing a door, moving a chair/table, or any other number of tasks? That's not a chance I'm willing to take.

Because it doesn't matter why. There is no scenario, period, where I would rather die because I'm unarmed, than to shoot to stop a threat. And to say that a legally armed gun carrier is going to shoot innocent people is almost disingenuous. You make it sound like every time there is a self defense shooting in the US that nothing happens. Except in the most clear cut scenarios (a masked intruder in someone's house, for example), the shooter is questioned thoroughly and possibly arrested when it's…

You carry unloaded?! Are you in CA? 3 seconds is a looooong time.

I'd rather die unarmed then defend myself with an arm And that right there is why we will NEVER agree with each other. I enjoy my life. I don't want to die, and having to defend myself with a handgun is a much more pleasant option than being murdered. I would much rather take a shitbag out of this world than die, and let said shitbag go on living and killing/raping/robbing other people. Your ideal is just something that I will never understand.

No extreme is completely right, the answer lies somewhere in the middle I agree. Not everyone is responsible enough to carry a gun, and thankfully most of those people recognize that. I have a cousin that is the same way. He's legally able to get a carry permit, but he doesn't think he's responsible enough, and I respect that. What I can say is that there are plenty of responsible individuals in this country that don't carry, and those are the ones that should. Carrying a handgun is a huge respo…

I can't argue with uncited claims like that. What I can do though is appeal to logic. Banning guns does not prevent gun crime. That is a fact that's been proven in your country, Australia, and many others. So when the time comes that a criminal does attack you, would you rather be able to do something about it or would you rather hope the they won't kill you? Personally, I'd rather be able to defend myself. I see no good reason to be forced to disarm when I could possibly save my life and the li…

I feel like you're lumping law abiding citizens and those with a natural propensity to go off into a deadly rampage when they get a little miffed into the same crowd. It's the same logical fallacy that those that decried the conceal permit legislation in Wisconsin recently. Every time a state passes a conceal permit law detractors say that there will be blood in the streets from everyone shooting each other up over trivial things like road rage. Well, it's never happened. To keep spreading this …

imagine [if] people popped caps every time they felt intimidated? I can imagine that. And I can imagine those people going to jail for a very long time. The problem would fix itself. Even people that are justified in their actions go to jail for a very long time. It's stories like that that make people like me very cautious in our mindset when we carry a gun for self defense. If more people carried more guns and shit like that started happening, you bet your ass the seriousness of the responsibi…

Assuming this was all really policy and she wasn't just talking out of her ass, I would not be going back to this theater. You have to give up your 2nd AND 4th Amendment rights to get in? No money for them. And yeah, send them a strongly disapproving letter as well.

wtf, who has friends like that? I can't think of a single person on my friends list that would talk to me like that-even on facebook.

The point is both places infringe on the right to bear arms. Same goes for NYC and Jersey.

Apparently these were in Oakland and NYC-both areas where the RTKBA is heavily infringed.
