As you say, nobody in their right mind can possibly make such a short-term, long-term miscalculation. These people are very few, if not, just a myth. They have other reasons for having children than the condom being too expensive that day.

I don't see how that's not an egocentric argument? Everyone is entitled to having their own opinion even if its selfish. Religious reasons for starters. There are religious people out there against any form of contraception. Even moreso when it's their tax money that hands it out. So that's just one argument.
