What an interesting perspective. I have agreed with the premise before, but my logic followed the trans men's experience rather than trans women's, and this is really an eye opening post for me, seeing the other side of the coin. Thank you for posting this!

Aragorn sings a song in his own coronation while flowers rain on him and he's tearing up when he sees the hobbits with an entire city looking at him in the film. If that isn't emotional vulnerability I don't know what is. And also, I'd say Legolas and Gimli break that trope VERY hard, as do each of the hobbits.

Saying Aragorn doesn't challenge the lone male hero is quite unfair for the books. In the books, he considers many men his friends, Halbarad and the other Rangers being a wonderful example. Elladan and Elrohir are two very important males that Aragorn was friends with even though he had no rule over them. Not to mention Legolas, Gimli, Gamdalf and Eomer.
