Death in childbirth was certainly common, but whatever the exact rate was it doesn’t compare to the annihilation of whole male populations. Even after these sorts of tribal conflicts were replaced by state conflicts involving smaller proportions of the population, men were still far more likely to be killed or die of disease in war than women, as it was they who fought in the armies. I would suspect that the historical figures are largely due to conflict and other predominantly male selection factors like deaths to wild animals. I don’t think we can know with any precision what the proportion will be in terms of how many men will go without reproducing, but I think it is capped somewhat by the utility of having two incomes leading to a lot of women pairing up and even reproducing with men for stability and wealth as much as due to any romantic attraction. Admittedly this could be less to do with sexual competition in the modern sense of the term and more to do with a much lower life expectancy among men historically due to war. You can actually see something analogous to this today in Russia, where due to a disproportionate number of men dying in the Great Patriotic War, you had millions more women than men for many decades, and this led to a lot of women moving around or even leaving the country to find husbands. You need one to search a female detainee, for one thing. They’re also often used in interviews, particularly high-stakes interviews, to unsettle the suspect if they’re male, and to try and see if a soft approach from a female will help to break him down. 1	I’m turning 26 today as a virgin. So what? I don’t think either side I can speak on this with any real authority. You can find plenty of examples of both occurring. 1	What are some reasons why someone is attracted to you, that would offend/hurt you? The concern with somebody being attracted to you because you fulfil a fetish of theirs is that you are exchangeable for everybody else that fulfils that fetish, if that makes sense. So like, if you are an Asian girl with a guy with yellow fever, if he sees another Asian girl he prefers for some other reason, he will be perfectly happy to drop you because his fetish will still be fulfilled.
