Hi everyone, I'm looking to recruit participants aged 18 and over for a short study on well-being and experiences with pornographic/sexual media. Responses are completely anonymous. Thanks for your consideration! https://kingstonpcs.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_b7MvM4fysvcLElE https://preview.redd.it/fw4f3xoegqcb1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=9e4fa9360a978a32b6a0330f2b7447f7c6dacd68

If I had those connections, I'd probably be doing something more lucrative than research

Glad I did something right

Based on posts I've seen on Reddit and in previous responses, yes incels do date. I'd consider using a dating app and talking to people on there as dating experience as well.

Whoever wants to identify as one. I'm not making judgments on who is or isn't one.

It's not that, it's that some incels are a part of this sub. Since Reddit nuked their own subs, I have to recruit from peripheral ones.

No, but since Reddit shut the specific ones down I have to recruit incels who may be part of other, more peripheral subs.

Yes. I just reposted in case it got buried. Each time I post (I try not to do it too much because I don't want to pester folks), I get several more people. Since Reddit nuked the incel-specific subs, it's been harder to recruit them and get a reasonable sample size.

What do you mean the same question?

I gave up trying to understand Reddit the day I signed up

Again, full disclosure, I do mention the violence perpetrated by some incels in my manuscript, but don't believe that this represents all incels (or even close to a majority). However, by and large, I don't ask about propensity for violence, as that is not central to what I'm looking at.

Thanks for taking the time to complete the survey. For full transparency, I am interested in other men in general, but I am using these forums to recruit incels specifically since they are difficult to get in more general audiences (usually I'll get 1 or 2 for every 50 or so people). As for the banning of incel spaces, my perspective is that all you do is push that further underground. Putting aside the fact that it makes my dissertation work more difficult (this wasn't supposed to be my dissert…

I don't want to say too much, given that this is a follow-up with some similar questions. But generally speaking, incels report having more depressive and anxious symptoms, less secure attachment, and a greater fear of being single. This is hardly groundbreaking (most incels are pretty open about this), but it's important to be able to say that we have quantitative data to back some of this up. In essence, it's not a few incels writing about experiencing some of this, which gets caught in some t…

The goal of the study is to expand our understanding if incels. I have no intention of using the data to present incels in a bad light: you'll see that most of the questions are pretty general, but together they hopefully paint a better illustration of incels beyond the media rhetoric. Because that and some textual analysis of (mostly defunct) incel forums are all we have to go on, I think it's important to have some actual quantitative data provided by incels themselves with the protection of a…

Their sub doesn't allow for study recruitment anyway, which is unfortunate for those interested in studying that broader movement.

Not all, but I have recruited incels from this sub in the past. Since Reddit nuked the exclusively incel subs, finding incels has gotten more difficult.

There are lots of self-identified incels out there, many have participated in this and other studies. Nothing you be ashamed of (and even so, it's anonymous).

If you were in the past that's fine, too (I'll clarify that in future posts). Would be happy to have you participate.
