Because I've never read that and cant find anything to that effect. We would be finding much higher rates of genital herpes if that were true surely? All sources I've read say genital herpes predominantly caused by HSV2, occasionally by HSV1. Would be interested to see your data though so can update knowledge if needs be. Stats from 2015 show worldwide, 2/3rds of people under 50 (approx 3.7 billion people) have HSV1 - that is not the 'genital herpes' (although in some cases there is cross over). Genital herpes is HSV2, of which 417 million people under 50 worldwide have. Which is only 5.41% of the population.
