Which often forces people to give a "closest recollection" answer. Happens all the time in like ups. They will pick the person hat most closely looks like what they remember even if it isn't all that close. This leads to false positives.

I took a course based on psychology and law in college. The lessons? People are terrible at noticing important details, terrible at accurately remembering important details, terrible at judging distance, time, and all other measurements, terrible at being impartial, terrible at telling if someone is lying, and terribly confident they and others are actually good at all those things. A jury of ones peers in a trial based on witness testimony is one of the most frightening things I can think of.
