“Possession is nine tenths of the law”

That's as maybe, but...did you fold the towels correctly?!

Well, if you’ve got a lawyer, surely you let them earn their money by telling you what you need to do. If she’s making claims, the lawyer would surely ask for evidence - you already having said they are baseless - and when she can’t provide it, you/the lawyer, can get on with the case. But I’d demand some sort of compensation for the emotional distress caused by her baseless accusations. Maybe a split in your favour, 60/70 40/30. But I don’t know. I live in Denmark. We did ours online after livi…

Exactly. She’ll be laughed out of court. If it ever got that far.

Wouldn’t she have to show some evidence? From the time of the alleged incidents. Without evidence, she’s got nothing.

Try mindfulness and meditation, that helped me. I'm still alone, several years after having the rug pulled out from under, but I'm building myself back up again. One day at a time, and every morning is a victory to celebrate. Live your life, even it it's just to piss her off!

Yeah, mine saw a ‘Life Coach’ in the months leading up to her telling me we were getting a divorce.

I did. I 'removed' them so I don't see her, but they're not deleted.

Yes. Mine saw what was called a ‘life coach.’ I asked a couple of times over the six months or more she was seeing her (the ‘coach’), what they’d talked about. She wouldn’t tell me. I perhaps should have seen it as more of a red flag than I did, but there ya go. I am absolutely certain, without knowing the actual facts, that this woman convinced her to leave me. 18 years down the drain.

It’s easier not having someone constantly in your neck chirping in with “you’re not going to leave that there, are you?!” every time you’re halfway through a job

I’d want to know, if she can be rational, what she’s apologising for. Usually, it’s they’re not sorry for doing it, they’re sorry for getting caught. If all she can come up with is I’ll never do it again, don’t believe her. Take your kids away from her, you owe it to them. Think of them. Stay strong. You have friends here.

I’m three years in and most of the time seem to not have made any progress. I moved from England to Denmark to be with her, then we got married. 20 years later - bye bye. I really had no idea she was even thinking of divorce. Of course now, I can see that there were signs, but at the time, no. Sometimes I don’t think I’ll ever recover. My life seems to be just existing, just waiting.

If you were that guy, would you want to know?

She’s making some very interesting - and usable - points there. I’m currently piecing together my way out of my darkness, as I don’t have the money for a psychiatrist.

You’re definitely not the crazy one - that would be me, according to the soon-to-be-ex’s ‘life coach.’

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
