Polite dismissal, like when you ask a girl out and she sounds excited to hear from you but says she's busy atm and she'll let you know, never following up.

u/BFirebird101 gave probably the healthiest ways to do so. On this sub, implicitly, other strategies include devaluation and objectification. It's more difficult to form bonds to things and it's harder still to form bonds to things you don't respect. I'm fairly detached so the question is counter-intuitive since I don't have strong feelings and passion and want to experience it. If you want to dial it down, framing yourself so that you are only affected by things inside your control (Stoicism) i…

You want to be able to prevent yourself from bonding and feeling attached?

Cool. What kind of results were you getting pre- and post- starting with meditation?

What are you doing in the club, apart from staring out girls?

When I'm out with the guys, there are usually 1 or 2 who are better looking than me and are physically better developed, better dressed, etc.. I'm kinda reserved and go about my fun quietly. They've noticed I get all the "I really like you" *grabs arm* business. I don't think they get it. They work hard to be attractive, grind all night to keep a girl. I just go have a laugh and don't really care about the rest. I think it pays off for me. It probably isn't your intimidation factor because far t…

That was raw man. Haven't got anything to say other than props for confronting it

Where do you draw the line between people liking 'you' and liking what you say or do? To me, it seems the two are pretty connected

I like dorky dates like this. I'd make her wear the stache too. Went jumping on a bouncy castle in Morning dress (Ascott's hat for her) and had pancake picnic on proper afternoon tea china last year with someone. Just goofing about for the afternoon

Mmm. I dont know whether it's redpilled but I was asked this earlier in the month and said "Why, you wanna come along next time?" Got asked if I'm doing anything for fun over christmas a couple of weeks later and used basically the same thing again since it worked.

Brought back memories. Been there. At 13 I was decent at football (soccer) so had some leeway with some of the boys there but was socially outcast as the chess/math nerd and by and an inability to socialise with my peers (I was a year ahead at school so a year behind them which caused some issues). Didn't help I was built like a lamppost (5'11 and about 50kg at the time). We had a school gym and I got stick when I started. First time I went there without having a clue what to do except some book…

Did you grow up doing this stuff? I'm a city boy and I never learned any of this. Noone in my life did it. I'd be absolutely clueless.

She probably caught herself feeling over-invested and decided to play the 'He can text first' game. When had you planned to meet her next? Arrange that when it's time but don't give anything before that

You moved back in with your parents recently when things didn't work out with your friend. "What happened?" Doesn't matter. Guy's an idiot. Resume on the basis of telling the truth. Don't add to it after this

First response was decent. She didn't let you win the point though and you failed her followup question. To avoid this next time, after the heels joke, I'd immediately pressure switch and ask about how big her feet are to see if you can borrow a pair of hers. No matter how big, you can tease about their size. and it gets you in a good position to escalate over which heels you want her to wear and what she's going to be doing in them depending on your game.

These guys are easy to deal with. Devalue the subject topic or the skill. Make fun of him being an autistic dork with his useless facts or skills (don't do it maliciously. Tease and make a joke of it) I've usually got the reputation of being the smartest person in the group so people try to impress me and the rest of the group by one-upping in niche areas but niche areas are easy to dismantle. You decide what's valuable and the group follows edit: If he's doing it to try to grab back some respec…

Sometimes it's alright. Getting told to man up and then you following through, sharing being momentarily weak or uncertain, can even be useful in helping you get your head back in the game. At work I was going through a situation where what I wanted to do was risky. Meant potentially losing the business with one decision or collapsing my position at work if it went wrong with another. She told me I know what I need to do and that was all I needed to bring it home. I dont have the experience of s…

It's lame and based in insecurity from being picked on when I was a kid. As much as just turning it around by bombarding myself with dissonant mantras would be nice, it unfortunately hasn't worked in other domains I've tried. Happy doing the sales I am in at the moment for the time being. Wanna move 'up' not across, so from here it'll be into an BDR position with the opportunity to move into business and client facing positions, rather than on the phone

Gotcha. I think doing sales over the phone has helped me conversationally quite a lot. I can play with tonality and conversation control isolated from body language and eye contact and the like. Selling in person would probably result in even better results but for a socially awkward guy with obvious insecurity about his appearance (very underweight) it's been good training and worth doing for me to boost my confidence in my ability. Next step for me I think would be moving from the phones to a …

What do we mean by 'direct sales'? As it happens, I've been doing sales for nearly 2 months now and am already am seeing vast improvements in myself

Week 2 of my new sales job. Training period nearly over. It's okay. A lot of compliance. My salesmanship sucks right now but that's what they expect while making sure we don't get fined for misconduct. On the compliance side I'm finding it really easy. Not going to the gym or eating as well as I should this week. Will improve that next week.

-secured a sales job -went to gym, did SS but relapsed and didn't go on the next session. My eating after the first was poor and I felt unwell/weak. 4 weeks until start date. Want to focus the next week and that entire period to making routine lifting, eating and improving my sleeping habits. Also daily meditation.

Applied for a job in telesales 5 mins before reading your post. Been socially isolated for a long time and figured throwing compensation incentive at me would be good for my development in term of rejection, selling, rapport, etc. My thinking is now that I'll spend a year or so there, get fit then join the military - something I'd planned on doing anyway but I think your post pinged something in my head. Curious about why you advocate combat arms in particular. We have the paras and royal marine…

The only issue is that women then complain about men excluding them because they're women. Had that happen where I work.

I've started by trying to implement the ideas of Independence written about by Stephen R. Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, especially habits 1-3, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_7_Habits_of_Highly_Effective_People#First_Independence Focussing on independence. Here seems like a sensible place to start especially with the isolation I'm imposing for a short time. Since I don't know what hobbies I'd like to pursue, I've been rather utilitarian for now and thought about what could impro…

No idea where to start here. Probably pick-up soccer since I enjoyed that as a kid would be a decent bet.
