Unfortunately, no real life people inspiration. I do look up quite a bit to Laura Petrie from Dick van Dyke show. She's by no means a perfect wife but I enjoy that as well, makes her relatable. She is an overall great wife and mother and such a lady.

I agree with the comment that said do what works best for y'all. In our case, we both work full time and I do all housework. This works out because I get home 4 to 6 hours ahead of him, as I never get off from work later than 2pm. This gives me enough time to do all the chores and still have time to relax. If we got off at the same time then things would be different, but it's a high priority of mine that I do the housework, which is why I chose a job with those hours.

Do you let some of these things go, how negotiable are these things? I'm not very flexible. I dated to eventually marry (I had the luck of only having to date one guy before marrying him, but still). Since you're here, I assume you want/have a life-partner as well. There's no sense in having a partner that is a dissapointment 40 percent of the time. Every single person will dissapoint you at one point or another, it's not a guy thing, it's a human thing. We're not perfect. In my dating years I j…

I am a little late to the party, but here ya go. Because it's better financially both my husband and I are full time. I cook, clean, yada yada. I like to have the place presentable by the time he gets home. My trick is that I get home anywhere from 3 to 7 or 8 hours earlier than him. This gives me enough time to nap, relax and recharge, and do those things. I prefer working at 2 or 3 in the morning, but if she doesn't then that'd be a big sacrifice for her. Honestly unless she is home well befor…

Skip the labels, they don't help, they just pigeon hole. I realize labels are right for some, but they were awful for me.

At the moment my husband and I live in a nice apartment. I am looking forward to buying a house though. For a while we had nothing in savings and it worried me. We were doing well financially, being DINKs and all, but "zero in savings" translated to me as "your future is bleak and unstable and you'll never get a house and children". I thought we simply didn't have the finances to save for the future at the moment. I voiced my worries to him, I said "not having anything in savings worries me", ju…

I am so happy that you have you can now fully appreciate and enjoy what you have, something a lot of people don't. Good luck in the future as well and congratulations. I've never heard of her or the book, but I was just on the prowl for a RPW friendly book so I'll definitely be checking it out. As far as real life goes I have absolutely zero good influences. I have a coworker who I chat with to pass the time and she seems to be in a traditional marriage but we're not close enough for her to infl…

Oh wow, I was just reading your blog today on lunch, thinking about how great of a rolemodel you are (hope that's not weird). Thank you very much StepfordGal!

I totally get that. After work I want to do nothing but sleep. Heck, on a day off I want to do nothing but sleep. Dishes and scrubbing be damned. That smile on his face and mine is the only thing that's motivating at this point. I hope y'all enjoy y'alls new place! Did you set everything up yet? That initial set up is soooooo hard, but it is kinda fun arranging everything with a clean slate.

Thank you! I appreciate the response. Pancakes are wonderful. He's not a breakfast guy normally so I've been trying to make him pancakes for weeks. Yummm.

My husband and I hit the gym together regularly. It's a great bonding thing for us.

As far as blogs go I have these two bookmarked. The first isn't active, I don't think. As far as I can find, the last update is around 07. The second is by a user here I think. It's pretty nifty and still active. I just moved, so I haven't been keeping up with it during the move, but what I have read was obviously bookmark worthy. Hope you find something of value in one or both. Good luck on those podcasts btw, hope ya find something. I've been looking for a RPW podcast for the longest time. Fin…

This kind of makes it sound like men are emotionless drones who can only think with their penises. Maybe it's just rubbing me the wrong way, but I'm finding this point of view extraordinarily disrespectful of men.

Laura Petrie, from The Dick Van Dyke Show. She makes mistakes from time to time, but I like the way they work through them too and I enjoy that she's not perfect.

So if I understand this correctly... You understood correctly. When I perform this act, my fear is that he will think: That i'm not as good as the other girls or that I look dumb. That fear only comes about when i'm not in his arms. I immediately think I can't possibly measure up to these women in the hip hop videos doing these kind of things. Or, you judge yourself to harshly and without physical contact to reassure you, your mind takes over and you beat yourself down. What are you psychic? Wel…

What is your relationship with yourself and your body? I am extremely comfortable with my body, no issues there. Are you sexually free with yourself or do you withhold and feel guilt or shame? I'm fine by myself, or in the locker room. I'm even fine with him sexually in general, it's just two specifics acts (both types of dances) that i'm having this issue with. This is very much a mental issue. And it's all about judgement or being judged. That is true I guess. I'm surprised (or not surprised, …

Focusing on the positive makes sense, thanks. As a side question, so you still feel a bit uncomfortable? How long have you been with him?

I love the title of this question lol. Haha thanks Is your SO unhappy with how you are sexually He is happy with where I am sexually. I guess i'm just a bit eager to do these things because he waited until marriage as well, so I want him to be as sexually fulfilled as possible with me. I think being able to do these things would help us both. All that matters is that you guys have fun together. Thank you! I sure do hope we'll have fun, we sure do now. I think RPW and religious women often end up…

Fabulous, whichever choice you make I sure hope it works out for you. Good luck! If you find either book lacking you can always ask for advice here to fill in the holes (as you know). The advice some of these ladies give are just as good or better than anything you'll find in a book.

In my (humble) opinion, it depends on how serious y'all are. If you intend on marrying him or staying with him long term then I'd go with Surrendered Wife, under the premise of "it's never too early to learn". I'm not married yet, but the lessons I've learned from Surrendered Wife are already improving my view on our relationship and I love seeing the twinkle in his eyes. It kind of seems like the kind of book that you can read at one point in your life and pull certain lessons from, then read i…

I don't like hip hop or rap or the like, just because it's not my cup of tea. However, from time to time I like a beat from a hip hop song. In those rare instances, I look up the instrumental. I like some Jewish "parodies" of popular songs, though, no I'm not Jewish. If left to my own devices I listen to Pop (I'm pretty obsessed with That Poppy *and Mars Argo at the moment) or Electro Swing. Electro swing appeals to my love of another era, while still appealing to my modern ears. *edit

I see you're listening to the Surrendered Wife? I had some audible credits to spend so I got the audible version without checking first (silly me) and found it was the abridged version. Did you manage to get your hands on an unabridged audio of it?
