Did you miss the whole "not counting" bit? Was bringing up other non-necessary, but common financial burdens often placed on the custodial parent.

Not sure what you mean by "provide receipts". A home, electricity, food, how are these not necessities? Are you suggesting that, for example, mom buys ham for the kid's lunches at school. Ham costs $3. A receipt for that $3 is then tallied against the child support total. Mom is not allowed to eat the ham. Something like that?

Interesting way to look at it. Say, for example, mom rent = $800, power bill = $100, and monthly groceries coming out to appx $300. Conservative estimates, not counting things like school clothes/supplies, football sign-ups/fees, etc, that's $1200 (more than you would pay for one child at an average income). These are necessities that the child needs. If your CS payment goes into the exes account, and she then uses money from that account to pay these bills, why do you default to "my money is su…

If the power bill is getting paid, and there's food in the fridge where your kids are living, then the money IS going to the kids. A fancy new bag is not indicative of misuse of child support. Especially if mom has her own job.

Fair. But the body also has other physiological mechanisms to help prevent a person from being sexually attracted to relatives, such as body scent markers indicating similarity of genetic immunities. I've always felt that Freud had a bit of an incest paraphilia, and so he explored it academically in an attempt to rationalize it.

I'm inclined to disagree based on a personal anecdote. I'm a career electrician, have never owned my own business, and I've had a fwb relationship with a lawyer who made significantly more $ than me. She was simply not attracted to the "metro, girlyman, trust-fund prettyboy" peers in her social circle. My hands are calloused, and she claimed that my hands turned her on fiercely. Resources and social status are not the only traits that influence hypergamy.

I can do all of those things, myself. Now, I will concede that a SO taking the majority burden of household responsibilites would take stress off me as the breadwinner. However, I believe that the housework, as well as day-to-day necessities, are the responsibility of everyone who lives there. I guess that's where I deviate from traditional gender roles. Things like cooking, cleaning, kids, etc are not gendered to me. Therefore, I look for what else a partner brings to the table to benefit the h…

I was thinking on that, and felt that the more interesting question from the OP would be how growing up without a clear masculine role model has affected us. That definitely had a larger effect than growing up with mom, imo.

I think being raised by a single mom was beneficial to me in many ways. For some background, my mother works in a heavily male-dominated stem field, and I followed suit into a similar field. When I was a kid, she went to school and worked (sometimes up to three part-time jobs simultaneously). As a result, I got a lot of "you're the man of the house" and "you need to take care of your mom and sister" type comments. This made me feel responsible for their wellbeing in a general sort of way, and th…

Online dating is quite useful if you have an intense schedule or otherwise cannot often spontaneously go out. So if a man were to do both, he may find a disparity in success/failure between the two contexts. This has been my experience, as I tend to find mediocre results online, but am reasonably successful with women in person. It is difficult (impossible in some cases) to fully convey certain attraction cues through an online profile.

It is most assuredly different. Dating apps can be great tools for establishing sex differences regarding physical attraction preferences and selection. Women experience higher ability to select up due to sheer volume of available options when dating online. However, these apps generally cannot capture other attraction characteristics such as gait, emotional stability, social aptitude, etc. Therefore, men who are relatively unsuccessful on tinder may still typically find relative success in face…

Possessing the ability to prevent discomfort and ensure a pleasurable sexual experience for a woman is an alpha trait. Men who cannot do these things rarely get laid a second time, or get nexted for men who can in casual sex contexts.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
