You assume wrong, I’m a 40+ yo cishet man. Don’t think you can lecture me on men’s issues, of which I’m very well aware.

Why not Because they did not make the rules, don't be dense. society blames men for everyone else's problems. Oversensitive much? Do you plan on not being dishonest at some point or what?

Most men had no more say in policy decisions than most women. Yet when policy decisions were made, they were almost always made by men. Men as a sex have no collective power of rule. And yet it's men who held positions of power in politics, it's men who held positions of power in business, and it's men who held position of power in marriage. Take your patriarchy nonsense elsewhere. No. I won't cede in the face of your denial of men's authority and feeling of superiority over women during most of…

You completly and conveniently omit the part where all these rules were decided by men. And if men were so unfairly treated, why didn't they protest for equality, as women did? How convenient must these rules have been, that they didn't even think for a second to fight for equal rights, instead opposing any attempt at achieving just that. Talk about revisionism. If you want to defend men's rights and defend equal rights, then give women the rights men have, and give men the rights women have. Fe…

I have not claimed otherwise, this is indeed bullshit, and it should be denounced. Yet women still aren't the ones who made the rules, so why don't you direct some of your rage at the people who actually made them?

Would you rather loose a small portion of you country or half of your population (entire male population) right from the age of 14-15 yrs? So you just leave everything behind and flee to find refuge in any country that will be open enough to welcome you? My homecountry is France. It has known Nazi occupation. It is now a free country. Imagine if everybody had fled and nobody entered the Resitance, or the Allies didn't come to help. What will you be left with at the end of this? Hopefully, a dead…

I know perfectly well where I am, thank you :) And I fail to see how disingenuously whining about early feminists helps today's men's rights.

Nothing in the quote has anything to do with treating women as immature children That's precisely my point. The argument (purposefully?) misses an entire part of the picture, and is therefore disingenuous. And feminism's first wave is famously known for The Suffragettes, ie. the women who fought for the right to vote, that men had and they did not. They were treated as lesser indivuals with lesser rights and responsibilities.

Imagine writing this to speak of a time when women could not vote, and were forced into marriage where they were basically their husband's property. If you treat women as immature children with less rights and responsibilities, condemn them accordingly. That, or give them equal rights.

All that russia wants is for ukraine to not join nato First, Russia doesn't get to tell a sovereign country what to do. Second, it is not all it wants. It wants territory. It wanted territory in 2014, it wants more territory now. It will want more territory tomorrow. I really fail to understand the end goal Not being a coward in the face of a genocidal psychopath with delusions of imperial grandeur.

Don’t forget those men being practically enslaved are actually entirely responsible for making the system that enslaved them for some reason They are not? Who write draft orders? Who says men are superior and women are not fit for combat and a precious resource to protect? Don't blame women for the decisions of the men in power.

Feminism by definition is a political and social movement that advocates for gender equality and the end of sexism and oppression. Therefore, feminism and by extension, feminist should care about mens oppression as it is against the feminist idiology. Yes. But women cannot have acces to men's perspective and experiences. It is men's job to complete feminism with their perspective. And you are very welcome to do so. The condition is to be respectful of the work women have already achieved, and if…

that doesn't mean it's a perfect cause. Who said that? And how can I build upon feminism when its intentions have already been established? Trial of intent What happened to unity, and working together? Women have done their part, and have spend a significant amount of time asking men to do theirs. You want me to single-handedly accomplish this task, is that what you're trying to say? No, I want you to participate in a collective effort, with other men, to acknowledge feminist revendications and …

The whole idea of feminism is extremely flawed. No. It makes excellent points. Points that can be generalized to theorize and talk about men's issues. It's not because some women only see red at the evocation of men's issues that feminism as a whole is bullshit. you cannot achieve gender equality by focusing on one gender's problems and completely ignoring the others. It has never been feminism's purpose to theorize men's oppressions. It's men's job. If you are unhappy with feminism's incomplene…

Your mistake here is to have let this person lead you with a red herring. That being said, feminism's point is and always has been to theorize women's oppression under patriarchy. It is men's job to theorize their own oppression, and they should do so without negating feminist points. And when some feminists err, the same way that some masculinists do, by seeing gender relations as a zero sum game where any denounciation of a phenomenon (such as "women on men abuse") is seen as the negation of a…

However, I don't see anyone complaining when mens bodies are forced into combat, by someone elses choice, to be maimed or killed What do you think Trump’s opponents think when they read this? https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/14/us/military-women-pete-hegseth-defense-secretary/index.html This bullshit is self-inflicted wound by men… something that feminists denounce as toxic masculinity. I honestly don't see the message "real men don't cry" often. Are you aware of the success of Andrew Tate and the troves of similar influencers that actually do influence men to bottle up and present a stoic, strong version of masculinity that can never show vulnerability, including crying? This is not anecdotal. If we want to say men often "bottle up" or compartmentalize their feelings in order to keep level headed and project the confidence expected of us, then I completely agree. Yes, I believ…

Men usually don't have to cry to resolve their feelings. As opposed to women, you mean, like there is some sort of intrinsic, essential gender difference in emotion processing? But even if that is not your point, I believe that "men should cry" is a counter message to the toxic masculinity of men who insist (along with some toxic women) that "real men don't cry," rather than an actual insistance on men crying even when they don't feel the need to.

most rape laws in the world are gendered And why is that? Could it be, perhaps, that historically, most rapes were the deed of men against women (or other men)? And who wrote those laws anyway (same question about Hermesmann v Seyer: who wrote the laws and who sat on the supreme court)? Or could it be that patriarchy teaches men to man up and not cry about their rape lest they lose their masculinity in victimhood? And isn't the point of letting men be vulnerable and cry (the topic of this post) …

That a lot of men are listening to the grievances of women and work to address them? I mean, yay, they are accountable and take responsibility for their mistakes if any, how very adult and thoughtful of them, please return the favor? There is literally no badmouthing here, it is exactly the opposite. Or do you pretend to know the meaning and intent of my message better than I do myself?
/r/MensRights17/11/24 02:34 PM

Please underscore this alleged "badmouthing," (I did no such thing and if anything, I did exactly the opposite). Also, do you have comprehension issues? What do you not understand in "please treat us the way you expect to be treated"? It's pretty straightforward.
/r/MensRights17/11/24 02:17 PM

Yeah, pointing at double standards in order to aim at equality of treatment is defense. What is defense to you? Ignoring every plea of women while demanding they fullfil every plea of yours?

What does Patriarchy truly means? It roughly means "Men are Gods (or at the very least, the Ubermensch) and the Gods (or the Ubermensch) are evil.". Strawman. what makes you think men's flesh is anymore knifeproof or bulletproof or anything like that I don't. Ask essentialist masculinists why they think that. Ask why Trump's new secretary of defense thinks that. You all should go to self-defense training for a few weeks. [...] Yeah, take your own advice and maybe you should go to a sexual harass…

misandrists Which I am not. I don't hate myself and I don't hate men. You don't get to label me a misandrist just because I oppose toxic masculinity and antifeminism. Now, since you claim to have a 'circle of women', show them this and discuss it with them. Sure, I'll have a look, and that may feed my future discussions.

Patriarchy by Feminist specifications, you mean Because it’s feminists who theorized the concept, yes. They want the self-serving application of Patriarchy, the paymaster, the soldier, the defender, the romantic, without having to do anything for it, or reciprocate in the way hewants. Who is ‘they‘? I’ve never read an actual feminist author say that (and I’ve read quite a few). There are even feminists who take men’s issues under patriarchy very seriously. There are hypocritical women who indeed…

I’m a man, and I don’t take anything that this article is about personally. Why? Because it speaks only of those men who have wrongly equated their bullshit with masculinity, and therefore cannot comprehend that calling out their bullshit does not mean calling out masculinity itself. It’s not misandry that is expressed here, it’s anger at a world that rewards rapists and macho goons, and that would enforce strict backward gender roles. Try empathy, for once. Try imagining what a woman who reads …

Patriarchy can be promoted by women and men alike. Traditional women who require men to pay for everything, and who claim that men who won’t pay aren’t real men, are perpetuating patriarchal values, and hurting men. So no, your translation is incorrect.

Then why is there still so much hate targeted at women in the MGTOW community? If women have a nature, then there's two possibilities: either the MGTOW community takes issue with that nature, which women cannot change, and thus this is hateful (you shouldn't want to force people to contradict their nature), or the MGTOW community doesn't take issue with that nature, but rather takes issue with the fact that women don't respect that nature , and then it would be denying women's individual agentiv…

Well, the era of women not having the right to vote or even own a bank account isn't so far, and all of this was justified in the name of genders' natural differences. When women are born to care for children while men are born to provide and lead, it is not a far stretch to think that men should exercise power and occupy executive position while women should stay at home, or more basically, that men are strong while women are weak. Such a little stretch that it's exactly what was observed in re…

Are you trying to justify the existence of stereotypes by pointing at... the fact they exist? And I'm supposed to just turn a blind eye on the circular logic here? I mean, the only thing you may prove here is that stereotypes are self-reinforcing. You didn't prove that they were ever justified in the first place, and you certainly didn't justify why observed statistical trends among genders (like "women are better at caring for children") should have a normative or prescriptive value. As I said …

Yes everything that I mentioned over thousands of years in multiple cultures was meant only to be misogynistic Yes? I mean, if you want to essentialize genders, let's essentialize men's misogyny against women as well, because why not? But more seriously, there are numerous examples of matriarchal and matrilinear societies among indegenous peoples. Some even have weirder conceptions of genders. Again, you are using circular logic and begging the question. It doesn't follow that lots of cultures d…

The study you cite indicates in its conclusion that males are possibly more susceptible to mental disorders, which run contrary to the popular notion that women are hysterical when men would be comparatively paragons of sane rationality. And those disorders would be genetically-induced, not crazy women-induced, which also seems to run contrary to the dominant narrative here. What do you make of that? Also, do you know Wittgenstein's take on language and the concept of "family ressemblance" again…

female nature has been documented in religion Bwahahahahahaha, what a trustable source of knowledge. The Chinese noted that the yin and yang embodied male and female characteristics. So we're going to take chinese metaphysics at face value now? On what espistemological grounds, exactly? Female being chaos and male being order. You're just begging the question. Except until proven otherwise, there's no female nature just like there's no male nature, and you don't have the sociological and anthropological knowledge to assert otherwise. Everybody is free to be their own person without you putting them into your prejudiced little boxes. Insisting on doing so is akin to hate. Much love, brother.
