Man, I'm in the same boat. When I have the kids, I rarely need to text her, but when she either does or doesn't have the kids, it's almost daily. Not sure why because not much really happens day to day. Did your ex cheat?

Yea, both our wives went off the rails. Oh well, life goes on.

Are you 100% positive someone else wasn’t in the background. That’s very common behavior - her getting nasty out of guilt/anger from her choices. Nobody suspects it, yet it happens all the time. I woke up with the kids, diapers, groceries, dinner etc… and she flipped on me when she met someone else. ~ 6 months prior to her affairs, my ex told me she was bragging about me being a helpful dad to her female co-workers, then 1/2 a year later I was a terrible guy.

What's her background like? Parents with a few divorces? Daddy issues? Is this her 2nd marriage? I did the same: cleaning, dinners, kid duties, helpful husband stuff. When we were married, she bought a new car, and when I was on a work trip, she called asking where the gas tank button was. She had the car for 6 months and I filled it every time. The short answer is there's never enough you can do for these people. You're better off alone than with the ultimate TAKER. That's all they know, and it…

Agreed. She decided long ago that you weren't the one for her. They don't make that decision three weeks ago. Most likely OPs woman has something brewing with someone else.

Why do you want a divorce?

My ex-wife cheated on me too. I found out about both affairs w/in 2 weeks of each other, and I filed about 2 weeks after. I hit my two-year divorce anniversary this month and it's been a very long and painful road. The bottom line is that she no longer wants and absolutely doesn't respect you. Now you have to ask yourself the question, "do I want to remain with this kind of person"? IMO, it's better to sleep alone in your bed than to sleep next to a cheater. It's a tough call, and ultimately you…

So, she wanted the marriage to be done with and then got mad that you filed?

I saw a book called, "BPD- A Guide For The Newly Diagnosed" in our Kindle account post-divorce. She also sampled a book called, "co-parenting with a narcissistic parent", which is probably me in her head. Not sure, never asked. The GF and her are such an odd pairing. I mean just the age alone...she was 35 hooking up with a 21-year-old. I really think it was some kind of mental snap on her end because it's so ridiculous, but she's a fantastic co-parent lol. I'll take that all day. Yea I can build…

That's what happened to me. She checked out, had an affair, and lost respect for me and got resentful. There's a pretty clear playbook that these people follow.

She's probably having an affair.

Don't get married. What issue do you have that marriage solves? Women are quick to get married, and quick to file for divorce. If you want to get married and not get divorced, marry a gay man. I don't see the purpose to marriage, especially if you've already had kids with the previous woman.

I divorced in Nov 23' and still haven't dated. Divorced after 10 years of marriage with 2 kids in diapers. My advice is to take at a minimum 1 year off. Find a hobby, workout, and no alcohol. If you rush into dating, you'll likely get into another bad situation. I read a quote for a therapist who deal a lot with divorced folks and she said, "Dating after divorce is like drinking alcohol and taking pain pills, it might not kill you, but you'll wake up f*#&ed up". I'm so glad I took my 2 years off…

Visit family or spend it with friends. Beware of loneliness as that can really cause harm.

The problem is that marriage doesn't meet 21st century needs. I got lucky in my divorce - it was quick and fair; however, I'll never get married again. My 2-year divorce mark is in a few weeks, and I haven't dated at all. I know one day I'll have a girlfriend, but that's where the relationship will remain. Like James Sexton says, "what problem do I have that divorce fixes"?

The biggest lesson I learned was resilience. Very challenging things either break or make a person, and I decided someone else's poor decisions wouldn't ruin my life. I lost my damn dog too; she even gave him away after having him 7 years together. Some people just go full Rambo on life.

A few weeks shy of my 2-year divorce mark. Ex-wife just broke up with the AP. Life is good, though it was a very long and tough road to get where I am now. The lesson I learned is that it's better to be alone than with a cheater. Despite the betrayal, my ex-wife has been a fantastic co-parent.... sure I don't agree with the affairs, but she hasn't been trying to make my life difficult and is extremely flexible with schedules, so that's a win in my book and one less battle to have in life.

I will have been divorced 2 years this November. My wife had 2 affairs...we were married 10 years w/ 2 kids in diapers. It's a lot easier, but sometimes it still hits really hard and makes me really sad. I don't know why people do crazy stuff to ruin lives.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
