Perhaps if the only options were to execute them or let them off scott free—then maybe what you claim would be in any way logical. But since you bring logic into it, why is murdering a pacified person logical? The truth is, it isn’t—but we are primal creatures who like to satisfy our sense of revenge, though often it does not bring the closure that many think it will. This woman would likely not have walked outside of a prison as long as she lived, even in the most liberal jurisdictions in the U…

Your blood lust just wouldn’t be satisfied, would it? God forbid we don’t deprive people of their right to life, ammiright?

Insofar that the United States is concerned, several states require that you use “the minimum level of force necessary” to protect yourself. That is, if someone slaps you, you don’t stab or shoot them and scream self defense. I think that an attorney could craft the argument that in such a situation where the man in question is required to use the least amount of force necessary, this man certainly exceeded said force, thereby exceed the legal definition of self defense.

Wait, come on now. She is totally in the wrong—she should not have laid her hands on him and she should be held accountable for that. Not justifying her actions at all. But the man answers slaps to the chest without a knockout punch to her jaw. Hitting her head from that could have killed her. Not only are we missing context, but what context would make his response appropriate—genuinely curious. Completely asymmetrical response IMO.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
