You can't assess chemistry online. When people meet organically they see many other cues besides looks and a short bio that's more akin to marketing than an actual description of the person. Online dating relies a lot on looks and the reality is that most people aren't good looking enough to lead with that. Online dating also relies on arbitrary filters that exclude people that might be a great match in real life. For example, a great match that's 35 or 24 will be excluded if your filters are se…

I think online dating sucks in that there is no way for me to pre-vet men, unlike my social circle where most men are largely what I am looking for in a life partner, and so I do not have to filter for that. Many years ago a cute guy was interested in me. A friend mentioned that he had dated on of my acquaintances and posted revenge porn of her. There's no guarantee that that something like that wouldn't happen to me if I dated men I know in person, but with online dating there's no way that I w…

I missed the unhinged questions men asked women in this sub around 5 years ago: "Hey ladies, would you prefer to date the guy that kills kittens for sports but is tall and sexy or the good reliable guy that loves you unconditionally but smells like dog food and leaves skid marks on the sofa?"

I know several men that insist men get better with age while women lose their appeal. When I ask them why is that they often say "men are wanted for resources and financial stability while women for their beauty". At the same time, these men are frustrated that the only younger women interested in dating them expect to be wined and dined in expensive restaurants and often lose interest when these men refuse to provide. These men also insist that young men can't get relationships or sex because y…

I've never seen 50/50 to be used literally outside the internet, which is why I'm surprised by the story.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/26 08:15 PM

You're essentially describing an equitable relationship. I think that 50/50 is a shorthand for that. I don't think any reasonable man expects 50/50 if he makes much more than the woman.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/26 08:04 PM
5

50/50 is just another name for "equitable share" and doesn't mean that both will put half and half of their money in a literal sense. Expecting a man to provide a bigger share of his money just because he's a man isn't expecting generosity and it's just as transactional. Also keep in mind that many "generous" men have a traditional mindset and while they have no problem being the sole providers, they also operate by the mantra that children are a woman's responsibility. I've seen several of thes…

Feminism is about equality, not about choice. While I don't believe in taking the ability to choose away from women (or pretty much anyone), I'm going to admit that the expectation from both gender for childcare to fall on women, which is what often leads to women becoming homemakers, isn't feminist in any way shape or form. I understand that women breastfeed and might be weakened for a while by pregnancy and birth, and this might lead them to be out of work for some time. I also understand cert…

When I was in my early 20s and men in their 30s and above showed interest in me I would wonder why would a supposedly "mature" man be interested in someone that young. These guys weren't unattractive ghouls objectively speaking, but I've just never found much older men attractive (with some exceptions). I also don't care about transactional relationships, but it's not a coincidence that men dating much younger women are either more financially successful than the average man or spend an inordina…

Most men can have children their whole life. The issue with men is that they eventually age out of the fertile woman's dating pool.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/26 02:16 AM

A 35 year old woman can easily have 5+ fertile years ahead of her. A man's big threat is that he eventually ages out of the fertile dating pool, which usually happens around mid 40s. If they're willing to have a family through unconventional methods then they can wait til later.

I think the bar can be extremely high for men when it comes to performative actions during courting such as paying for dates, which can limit a man's prospects with women of similar income in some cases. On the other, men that can pay, can often pay their way into a relationship while lacking many other qualities that are expected from women. For example, a man can try to get into a woman's pants and as long as he accepts a "no" and keeps planning for dates, his behavior wouldn't damage his chan…

How old are your mother's friends, and are they from a relatively conservative area? People that see marriage as a must are more likely to settle out of desperation. Despite all the talk about the cock carousel, the biggest predictor that a woman (or a man) will settle is their desperation to get married, regardless of sexual experience.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/26 02:31 AM

His response was mature. I didn't like the smoking part, but the rest seems okay. A man not paying for you isn't a moral failing on his part. Don't date him if you don't want.

Never said absent father was great. Just that fathers that choose to be present are better than father that choose to only provide. Based on what you describe, yours was a single father. This is different from a father that has the choice to cut back on his work a bit to be more present but chooses to offload everything on his wife.

Look at the Dad's Income and Mom's Work by Mother's Education chart. The higher the woman's educational attainment the less likely she is to stay at home. Although dducational attainment and income aren't perfectly correlated it is safe to assume that the correlation between the two is high. It's safe to assume that women with higher incomes are less likely to stay home. I never said that all SAHMs are married to six figure earners, but it's clear from the chart that women that are married to hi…

There are many men that are very involved fathers, but this thread is not about them. "Not that bad" by the way is a very low standard. I know several "not that bad men". The men I'm talking about are not very involved with their children beyond being providers. Some women are perfectly okay with that but many are not.

Nobody would complain if Scarlett Johansson wanted a tall/rich/confident man. These complaints about women having high standards exist because men don't think these standards are justified, hence the "what do these women bring to the table" talks. It's essentially men complaining about double standards without using the word "hypocrisy" explicitly.

The point is, these men do everything except becoming caretakers themselves. They'd rather offload childcare to their wives and nannies than taking paid parental leave. As to why nobody is entitled to tradition, well, because entitlement creates an obligation for the other person. You might be entitled to a caretaker or a provider if that's what you agreed to with your partner and you're doing your part. You're not entitled to a relationship with a man that wants to provide and said man isn't en…

It's not a simple solution. Stay at home mothers exist either because the woman doesn't make enough money to cover daycare costs, or because the woman managed to marry someone that makes much more money than she makes. People usually marry within their own income bracket. Most people, male or female, wouldn't like to lose 40-50% of their income even if both are making good money, not to mention the long term impact on their career. People love traditionalism until traditionalism starts hurting t…

Because research isn't about individual women, it's about tendencies. Research is also used to prove/disprove the veracity of established beliefs. Researchers don't care about the opinions of individual women. If you're asking why researchers look at revealed preferences instead of self-reported ones it's because people aren't always aware of what they want. This isn't a problem with women, this is a problem with humans in general.

Many do. Many of these men end up married to women they find less sexually attractive because on some level they buy into the madonna/whore dichotomy. They also distrust women and think that less sexual, less attractive women are less likely to cheat. I've had men tell me that their long term partners aren't the most attractive women they've had, but that they were worthy of a relationship because they were good and loyal.

Most studies on sexual arousal are self reported, when sexual arousal is measured by brain activity women are found to respond to sexual stimuli similarly to men. Sexual stimuli also produces genital arousal in women. Behavior is heavily regulated by social norms and often doesn't represent how a person actually feels.

They’re not lying, but they’re also not imagining a scenario where these women are women they’d want to date. Plenty of men that pursue casual sex get off on the idea that the woman wants them more than they want her, even if they don't actually want to date her.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/07/25 09:32 PM

As someone who's had to tell men that I want to keep things casual and not interested in anything deeper, most of these men didn't sound too amazed when they realized I meant it. I fully agree. I'd take it up a notch and encourage women to cheat as well. Women get fat and frumpy when they feel all the hot young men are off limits and that their only reward is a pot-bellied bald ageing husband. Plus, if the husband knows that the wife might cheat or branch swing, he will be motivated to spend more on her and to keep himself looking hot by going to the gym. /s

Women have been outnumbering men in higher education for over 40 years, at least in the US. Media has been fearmongering about the state of relationships since before women were going to college in high numbers, warning us about the lack of marriageable men for all these educated women. What's happening is that there's an increasing number of women with degrees marrying men with no degree. I fail to see the problem with thisset up.

Not all women who have difficulties finding a partner ae overweight. Not all overweight women struggle to find a partner. Being a healthy weight is attractive, but it isn't necessary the answer, especially if the woman isn't facially attractive, has an unattractive fat distribution/skeletal shape or her issues are unrelated to her looks. My husband and I got married because of specific legal benefits. Pursuing marriage for the sake of social legitimacy reeks of insecurity and main character syndrome. Marriage only involves the two people getting married and to some extent their children. It's a union that doesn't need to be recognized anybody else outside some legal/administrative procedures. In fact, society at large is pretty much indifferent to your marital status.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/05/25 05:44 PM
3

And in that case marriage wouldn't protect the woman as she wouldn't be entitled to alimony, wouldn't get more than what she brought into marriage - assuming she doesn't make much less than the husband, and child support -if she gets custody- will be low.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/05/25 05:35 PM
4

The big elephant in the room is the normalization of men neglecting their children unless legally coerced into parenting, which doesn't work either as many married men don't parent their children. This isn't really a marriage issue.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/05/25 05:24 PM
2

I disagree. I think the opposite is true. Men want all the benefits of marriage without the marriage so by being a man’s mommy bang maid without a contract that guarantees you get your half of your investment in the relationship in case of a break up makes the woman a pick me. Women don't have to carry all the workload in a relationship regardless of marital status. If you see an unequal relationship as a burden you need to end the relationship, not to push for marriage.

It has been my experience that women who are obsessed with marriage and look down on women that aren't married also have extremely low expectations for men. They see men as non-committal, untrustworthy, lazy for chores and neglectful around children. They think that a ring is a compensation for men's defects. They're the type that say "women bear the burden of family so the man should at least be generous". They also measure their self-worth through men's commitment and tend to put with all kids…

Men who say this see sex as as a power move which validates their superiority in a sexual relationship. If they were to accept that the only reason a woman slept with them was because she was horny and not because she "gave" them sex to get a relationship, then they would also have to accept that they weren't that valuable in the woman's eyes. There's nothing that men like this fear more than being treated the same way they treat women. Women who say this base their self-worth on their ability t…

They're all married to physically attractive men with good jobs. Some women are just horny and want sex. If a man has to pay to get sex and relationships he's either shooting out of his league or he has a very transactional idea of how relationships should be and dates equally materialistic women.

I know plenty of attractive women who had casual sex. And what it is we are competing for? I want sex as much as he does and I only date men that want a relationship as much as I do. I've never had sex to get a relationship.

I have absolutely nothing against responsibly conducted sex work, but if you're gonna do it, do it because you genuinely like that line of work, not because you feel like your lack of enjoyment needs to be compensated.

I'm not sure about the "she gets everything she wants from him" part. Do you mean money? It's a matter of what assets you bring into marriage. If you make a good chunk of the household income chances are you won't get alimony, or more than what you brought.

In modern dating society still affords more freedom to men than to women when it comes to the type of relationships they can pursue. It's more acceptable for men to engage in casual sex than it is for women, it's more acceptable for men to cohabitate long-term with their partners than it is for women, hence the words slut, easy and forever-girlfriend which are rarely used for men. Women need "proof" that the man is into them because they start dating men under the assumption that this man could …

Yeah, I don't buy that either. I'd also like to add that most average and below average looking women aren't hooking up with Chad either. Looks like I struck a nerve. My mindset is the same mindset of men that go out to get laid, some of you just have a problem handing the fact that the way you perceive the women you sleep with isn't any different from the way these women perceive you. That's all. I'm married to someone who's company I enjoy more than the company of the men I was dating casually. I haven't cheated and I'm not planning to. Does that make you mad?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/25 08:41 PM

When I was looking for casual I wasn't thinking "I want a high value man", I was thinking "I need someone available, single and attractive enough for something casual, but not so attractive that I'll want to see him often". This was also the case for my friends entered casual relationships consciously. Whether a man finds this validating has nothing to do with women.

You're right to criticize anything you want, although telling the couple in question that they're wrong might be rightfully considered nosy. I don't think that people that constantly and unpromptedly criticize preferences that don't affect them are happy with their lives, but a lot of the criticism that people receive for their preferences isn't unprompted because a) many preferences are also expressed in the form of criticism, and b) many preferences do affect the person in question. If a woman…

People can criticize whoever they want. And I'm pretty sure that women who demand to be taken care of by a man, and men who demand women to quit their jobs will be seen as self-entitled by most people even if they manage to achieve the type of relationship they want.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/05/25 06:36 PM

Most men will see a woman with no sexual partners after a certain age with suspicion. Most women will see a man with too many partners with suspicion. A man can have experience without having too much of it. You're not trying to impress women, you're trying to impress other men.

/r/PurplePillDebate10/05/25 04:45 PM

The question is how would that play out? A guy that's not interested will show his lack of interest at some point. The conversation won't flow, you'll exchange number but he won't call, he'll call but won't set up a date and so on. If the guy is a manipulator who will go to greats lengths to feign attraction by calling you, setting updates and starting a conversation, he will be the type of guy that might as well approach.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/05/25 02:56 PM

Women don't get approached by men as often as PPD assumes and there's no guarantee that the guy that'll approach is someone you like. The same happens the other way around as well, but taking initiative when you see someone you like increases your chances. The problem with people on PPD is that they distrust the opposite gender but also crave the validation that sex or relationships get them. Technically, sexualization turns into objectification in the exact way you describe. The person is stripped of its humanity and is seen as a thing for someone else'sgratification. Practically, any form of sexualization of women can be perceived as objectification because many people believe that any form of sex that doesn't happen in the context of a relationship is degrading to women. Then you should be mad at the people making the generalizations. If people are perfectly capable of seeing men as sane and thoughtful despite what they see in incel/red pill forums why it's so hard for them to see women as sane and thoughtful after seeing a couple of women making stupid arguments? The men who see women as whole as stupid and thoughtless as sexist, plain and simple, and you come off just as bad for expecting women to live up to those unfair standards.

Women that prefer more experienced men tend to be experienced themselves. Both men and women prefer a partner count that's ideally on the lower end. Regardless, some woman's preference doesn't change the fact that more experienced men are more likely to get divorced, and it's divorce that many men here keep complaining about.

People with many sexual partners tend to have a different idea of what "many" is. They also tend to have personality traits that make them attractive to each other. I don't think they settled.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/25 11:47 AM

I agree that this might be a factor. That said, this is also evidence that women who think like this believe it's someone else's job to prevent a man from cheating. I personally don't see myself dating someone I expect to have so little control over his sexual impulses.
