The "witch" take is beyond bizarre. Like, don't most old stories feature "funny" characters who centre their entire lives around one thing? Sounds like a codeword for something else to me. Do you have statistics to show that male traumatization is lower than female? I remember reading that women sometimes struggle with feeling like "a proper victim" after being assaulted because while the experience was bad, it wasn't as bad as it could (or "should") have been. Given how badly the world treats men in these cases, men are likely more open to "admit" that their mistreatment wasn't "that bad".

TBH, the term sexual orientation usually seems to refer to choice of behaviour, too, and not something you are. Same goes for choosing to identify as the opposite sex.
