Ah, okay then. "one of the most blatantly patriarchal religions on the planet" came across as quite negative to me when I read it.

They're just describing the more generic definition of "discriminate" in which it doesn't mean anything bad. Like, I can discriminate between two brands of ketchup. It makes sense to not say "I discriminate in dating" because people might get the wrong idea, but because "discriminate" has two definitions, the other commenter was pointing out that it is incorrect to say you "don't discriminate in dating" because it implies you'll date literally anyone.

You can't really equate the two. Feminists might push for the upsides of being men without the downsides, and without giving up their unique benefits, and therefore not be pushing for equality, but there isn't really any objective benefits to being LGBTQ; so, any positive they gain that the cis straights already have is always going to be a step towards equality.

Sometimes, you find that romantic spark with someone while you're chatting. Other times, it just isn't going to happen. There's no use trying to hyper focus on acting in certain specific ways and abandoning old tactics. Be chill, be funny, don't push too hard.

Well, I think it's more that people hate preferences that they can't qualify for. It doesn't bother me if women are more attracted to men that are slimmer, more muscular, or with shorter hair; I could eat less, work out more, and cut my hair if I wanted to, so it's all pretty in my control. I'm over 6' and not bald just yet (though who knows if it's ready to pounce at any moment) so I'm doing okay on the preferences which most hurt men's chances and are out of their control. ... Then again, a lo…

I am not annoyed by unattractive women, generally. I'm not annoyed by most people. When I say I'm more likely to find them annoying, I mean that behaviour that might come across as cute from an attractive woman might come across as annoying from an unattractive woman. Not sure I can make this make sense. It's not fair, but that's the vibes that I believe are knocking around in my head. Might not even be true, but I think it is.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/08/25 02:31 AM

What was I hypocritical about? I never said women were shallow.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/08/25 03:24 PM

3) If I’m honest how much I enjoy the company of a woman is highly related to how attractive she is, even just friends I never really thought about this, but I'm exactly the same. Even though I'm in a committed relationship, I definitely feel like I get on better with attractive women, and I'm more likely to find unattractive women annoying. You're a piece of shit for cheating though.

Not saying you're wrong, but I'm far too lazy to research claims made on Reddit, haha. Reddit's search feature is trash.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/08/25 10:12 PM

Who's claiming that? What you're saying is obviously true. I haven't seen anyone suggest otherwise.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/08/25 12:39 AM

Is it really such a deeply thought out process? I would have thought women just do what feels natural with guys they like in the hope it will develop into something. Sometimes, it works out. When it doesn't and you were still invested, why wouldn't you blame the bloke? We'd do the same the other way round.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/08/25 09:39 AM

I would say all my mates are fairly attractive. Hard to tell, really. They certainly don't have dirty nails and greasy hair like you're saying. Before someone says women should be dating men they aren’t physically attracted to Are people suggesting this? Can't imagine that working out.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/25 10:51 PM
2

For sure, but most people wouldn't actually say it out loud like that. It's just not how these things work. People temper the physical stuff when they say what they like.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/25 10:37 PM
1

Yeah, dawg. People have their standards and try to make themselves seem viruous. That's how we all are. How many men have you actually seen openly communicate "no fat chicks"?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/25 06:52 PM

My partner has never weaponised that sort of thing again me. I just avoid sharing because it obviously makes her uncomfortable and it doesn't really help anyone. It's our job to be somewhat stoic, even if we're constantly stressing and regularly thinking about the least painful way of ending it all. Both genders have their struggles.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/25 05:55 PM
2

Perhaps what you're suggesting simply won't make sense to people who aren't asexual no matter how you reword it.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/25 06:08 AM

I think you overestimate your ability to cheat if you think you could do it a dozen times in a few hours.

Men want a root. That’s it. Which then leads directly into Alive isn’t even a necessity for some of them. You're now taking the "some" out of context, but my comment was responding to their whole comment, which included a part that shit-talked all men (saying "men want X" or "men do Y" does imply all men), which was then compounded upon. I don't deny that necrophiliacs exist. Plenty of them may very well be women. Not sure there's really enough data on it to make any statements with any certaint…

The sex part is a pretty big unchecked box. That's like asking "Would you exclusively drive a car with no seats or steering wheel if it checked every other box?"
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/25 10:17 PM

That's called being a romantic asexual. Sexual people and asexual people aren't compatible. That's no one's fault. You just don't understand sexual urges.

I was interested on your personal view, fellow redditor. From a quick ChatGPT search, rates of cheating seem to be almost identical between the genders, especially with unmarried couples (at least in the UK, where I live).

But you presumably wouldn't because you don't want to hurt his feelings or break his trust, right? In that regard, we'd be the same. Or is it primarily just because you have no desire to sleep with other people at all?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/25 08:03 PM
1

Right, but this is all people I don't know online. If all the women in my life, personally, claimed this, it'd be different. But even then, if we're talking about how men think, then I'd trust men more, because men are themselves. Same way I trust women more about how they think, despite the fact that my experience may not reflect that based on their actions.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/25 08:01 PM
1

I'm sure there is a good deal of truth to what you're saying. I don't want to sleep with other women, but honestly that might be almost 100% coming from either not wanting to hurt my partner or, if she wouldn't find out, the guilt in knowing that it isn't what she'd want. Then again, I wouldn't want her to sleep around either, so I figure that's just how everyone feels. I mean, both men and women cheat, so surely we all have that desire?

You think you can be certain how the majority of a group thinks based on your interaction with a fairly small number of individuals belonging to that group? You don't see how that is a super problematic stance to take? By the same logic, a person could say "The majority of black people steal things. I know this because several of them have stolen from me". You can't just extrapolate your personal experience onto a group of billions of people.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/25 01:11 AM

I'm not saying whether most men wanting only sex is good or bad, just that it isn't true. I have no reason to doubt your experience that the men you've been with seem to only want that. That's some bad luck if so. No need to whip out the broad brush.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/07/25 05:50 PM

I'm not dismissing your experience, I'm dismissing your cynical and patently false conclusions. It's like if I said "All women are evil and want only to make men suffer! I know, I've dated loads of them!". It's just obvious that I'm a jaded person who's unfortunately had many negative experiences, but I'm also obviously wrong. If I'm a narcissist for dismissing your absurd delusions about how heartlessly sex-crazed most men are, so be it.

I must have just misunderstood you somewhere. I thought you were asserting that most men were like this. I don't disagree that many are like this. When you say "men do X, men want Y, men say A but think B", that implies the majority of men. Like if I said "crows have black feathers".

I have many male friends and we have no reason to deceive each other on this topic because there is no judgement either way. Neither of us really know what all men think. I have one 100% accurate data point on what one man thinks, you can try to interpret what they think from their behaviour with you, but you can never really know. None of us can really know what other people think, and we have different reasons and different experiences for why we think what we do. Personally, given that your t…

This is the sort of thing that immediately came to mind for me. Men accidentally do more oblivious things that set their partners off (e.g. "were you looking at her butt?!" while spacing out, or your phone example) but I wouldn't perceive that as "causing" drama, as only the reaction was dramatic, not the initial action or lack of actions.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/07/25 03:25 PM

Yeah, that's fair. I think you have an overly cynical view of men, but dudes like this are to blame for that, haha.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/07/25 03:17 PM

OP has quite strange views as well, but you have an inaccurate view of what most men want. Most men want a meaningful relationship and plenty of sex. This "situationship" things sounds even more hollow than friends with benefits, which most men would still only go for in the hope that the person they're having benefits with will eventually fall for them.

Not sure what a "composed man" is, but men who want to wait until marriage to have sex are definitely a small minority. And even women who worry about men only wanting sex usually don't want to wait that long.

Yeah, it's an interesting theory that I'm not really sure how you could prove one way or the other. 15-year-olds don't look like 18-year-olds. I would have thought the majority of men would not be attracted to them physically. Certainly not mentally.

That seems misguided and counter productive to try to patronize people into changing their behavior Progressives do this all the time. Like with "big is beautiful" or "healthy at every size". Just say a catchphrase so often that they hope it'll change others. Perhaps the next one will be "war is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength" (these specific lies don't align with progressive views at all, I just wanted to highlight the vibe). So, as I said before: My interpretation of that phrase was just that it was a fun and silly internet way of saying you should ask for consent. This video doesn't give me any reason to think otherwise. It sounds like a progressive buzzphrase rather than a thing people actually mean literally. They're all holding signs protesting sexual violence. That doesn't exactly go hand in hand with sexual thoughts. It's got the same energy as "looking both ways before crossing the street is wicked cool!".

We all know that "consent is sexy". Does anyone actually think this? Genuinely, I can't imagine anyone literally thinking this is true. My interpretation of that phrase was just that it was a fun and silly internet way of saying you should ask for consent. In my opinion, it is awkward and unnecessary, and this whole thing has come about because many people are incapable of reading social cues. Infantilising women by suggesting they can't just say no is odd. If they feel scared to say no... Well,…

Most people are hypocrites. Especially when it comes to charged topics like this, most people are so committed to opposing any point made by people on the opposite side that they make blanket statements that ultimately go against their own beliefs. I wrote it twice, please actually read. My bad. I didn't know what "PPD" stood for and I kinda glossed over it. I'm new to the sub. They're putting a woman on a pedestal because she didn't get a 5th place trophy. Again, this is the point I'm referring to with the Simone Biles thing earlier. Prager U is full of complete nonsense. Kids know the difference between participation trophies and trophies for winning. I think they're a waste of metal, but they're not harmful. People are upset with trans women in women's sports because they have an unfair advantage. That doesn't mean they will always win. It's a bit hard to see what it is you're trying to debate with some of this, as there is a few tangentially related points which don't really group together; were all conservatives upset wi…

We generalise because it is usually true that "men do this" and "women do that". It's helpful to acknowledge patterns where they exist so you can better understand people. Men are quicker to anger and women are quicker to tears. This won't apply to every individual in those groups but, broadly speaking, it is a helpful generalisation when it comes to considering how to interact with people. To try and prevent yourself from realising those generalisations would only handicap you in social interac…

Breasts are a secondary sex characteristic for women, but that doesn't necessarily make them inherently sexual. I'm on the fence about the whole thing, honestly. It's hard to determine whether or not there's something innate about it. They aren't genitals though, so they're certainly not the same as penises and vaginas.

I think it can just be difficult to see someone as just a friend when you started things off seeing them as a potential romantic partner. Obesity grosses me out, so not that. Not trying to be mean to anyone here but this one really hits me on a visceral level. Even on myself, I hate to see any folds or whatever if I've gotten a little complacent for a while. Hard to tell if a woman I've fallen for has been ugly because they wouldn't have been ugly to me. I've fallen for women who aren't "traditionally" beautiful. Big noses and stuff like that. I've never found older women attractive, which I'm hoping changes as I continue to age.

It very obviously is offensive. I share your fear; you only get one life, and if you find out that the kid you thought was yours, that you sunk decades into raising, actually isn't yours.... Well, I can't think of much that could be worse than that... However, asking for a DNA test is saying. You're telling me you didn't cheat, but I don't trust you and need it officially verified. There are perhaps more eccentric clothes I might consider if they were more socially accepted, but I don't think clothes meant for women would look good on me, for the most part. A lot of clothes look good on women because it compliments their shape.

The simple answer to all this is just that most people are hypocritical and inconsistent. Firstly, there are plenty of people who want to move away from gender roles and, consequently, don't expect or even want men to pay for a date. They do exist, they're just not the majority. Worth acknowledging them. For all the other woman that claim to want gender roles gone but still expect men to pay for a date, it's just the natural desire of wanting the good without the bad. All these things are awful, but the main pressure in women not having children is probably financial. People want financial security before having kids because they know it will be expensive. That financial security isn't possible for most people. I have to admit, I appreciate a child-free wedding myself. Especially babies during the ceremony. I don't feel super strongly about it though.

Yeah, for sure. The optics are just different, I suppose. Men will often swipe to match every woman on dating apps and just assess the result of all of those matches. The fact that they have swiped on practically everyone gives the impression that they set the bar very low, but if you would have swiped 10% of women and a much smaller total 10% amount of women would swipe you back, there's a good chance those matches will never coincide and you'll see no one. I suppose a large part of it is that you have to ask as a man. There are plenty of women that a lot of blokes wouldn't be interested in at all. For the ones they are interested in, some aren't interested in you, some are taken; it's a potentially lengthy process of searching because of relative perceived scarcity (water in a desert). I agree that it sounds mean, but you can't deny the sentiment it's implying. Men struggle to find any partner, women would fairly easily be able to find a partner but need to filter through them to find the right partner. This will always be the case while men are primarily the pursuers in romance.

I've never thought about how common it is. All that matters to me is that it isn't happening to me, and all I can do is choose to be with someone who seems like they wouldn't do that. It has worked out so far.

Can't think of anything specific that I appreciate except for strength, as the top comment says. Anything else would just be "I don't have XYZ as bad as I would if I were a woman" on a few different things, which I wouldn't really classify as things I love about being a man. One thing I might pick (though it might be a bit of a generalisation that can't be extrapolated beyond the people I've personally known) is that I generally don't feel negative emotions as strongly as most women, so I would …

Don't know where it is you work, but that aspect is pretty much the same as it has always been, as far as I can tell. You feel out for signals that they're interested. If you hit the mark, you have a date. If not, they might be taken aback and made uncomfortable. I don't think that is considered inappropriate at all.

The people you're talking about definitely exist, but I think it's an unfairly broad brush to just refer to them simply as "feminists" given that there are plenty of feminists who are perfectly normal people. The definition of "feminism" varies in intensity from person to person. The JK Rowling thing is pretty crazy. She was made the face of transphobic bigotry and I never really questioned that, assuming she said loads of really blatant and horrible stuff. But if you actually look up what she a…

Man, that's crazy. I'm 30 and there was never any moment during my childhood where I was taught how to treat women. I can see the logic because some men grow up to be shits and childhood has gotta be the most effective time to address that, but the stuff you've described sounds annoying and patronising as fuck as someone who is not a sex pest. Most people are able to read social cues and can tell if someone is uncomfortable.

You brought it up in the context of dating being difficult for women, so that's a confusing U-turn.

If the government agrees that the man shouldn't have to pay child support, that means that the government is going to be footing the bill. Messed up, but it's in their best interest to make out like it's somehow your responsibility even though it isn't your kid.

"Mr Turner's cause of death was not mentioned by the court." I don't think the doctors who determined she wasn't at fault are lying, but it seems like this is very much the kind of situation where knowing the actual cause is pretty important... "It seems like she killed him, but she didn't." "Oh, that's surprising. What did it then?" "I'm not telling."

The one sense in which I would say it's more difficult to be M2F is that, from what I've seen, it is very difficult to "pass" after heading in that direction. Most F2M individuals I've seen who have been on testosterone for a while, worked out a little, and grown a beard, don't look trans at all. Sometimes their speech mannerisms seem a little more feminine though, even if their voice is low enough to pass as a man's voice.

"David Silverman began publicly challenging religion in high school and often states in interviews that he became an atheist at the age of six.[6] Although he was never in the closet about his disbelief, he was forced to do his Bar mitzvah." Doesn't sound all that Jewish to me. Sounds like an atheist promoting atheism.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
