TV Show idea: #NotAllSnakes, where men who say “Not All Men” are introduced to a variety of snakes. Not all of them are venomous. Anyone who actually knows anything about snakes knows that not only are most snakes nonvenomous, but snakes in general don’t attack humans unless threatened (assuming they don’t try to flee instead, which they are more likely to do). In fact, I think a show like this could potentially do a lot of good for dispelling myths about snakes… which is seemingly not the point…

Admittedly, it is difficult to not immediately jump to either “they were acquitted, so they’re innocent!” or “they were acquitted, so the justice system is broken!”. Most people go with one or the other based on their confirmation bias. Feminists have a couple of ways to explain away things like this, including a theory known as “the glass cliff”, where a majority rule of men put a woman in a position of power right before a recession or some other hardship is projected to happen so they can say “this country/ business/ etc. saw some of its worst years under a woman”, thereby justifying not having women in power in general. At least that’s what I’ve heard, and I don’t know how much water this theory even holds.

That’s something a lot of feminists, and progressives in general, need to come to terms with: Those select men in power see the 95% of average men in the world not as their “fellow men”, but as tools to be used to maintain power. Same goes for white people, straight people, cis people, etc.

I have trouble wrapping my head around the idea of "rape culture" which is described as a society where sexual assault is normalized and permitted, perpetrators do not face consequences, and the victim is blamed for having been assaulted. I feel that people who say that such a thing exists are seeing trends in the world that I'm just unaware of.

I've long since thought that so-called "transmisogyny" was just misandry by a different name, since misandry is the prejudice that shall not be named, but transphobia and misogyny are far more taboo. Think about it: hatred of trans people is often simplified to hatred of trans *women* (as if trans men don't exist)... except that transphobes don't see trans women as women.

You know what's funny about all of this? I've spent an awful lot of time with radical feminists, and I think you guys would agree on an awful lot, specifically that "we don't live in a perfect world, your choices don't exist in a vacuum". Except that their view of an imperfect world is "patriarchy" and yours relies heavily on alluding to "nature" and "basic psychology". Either way, the end result is an unfair level of criticism and derision levied at women's choices.

How people *see* you isn't necessarily how they do or should *treat* you. Natural law dictates that somebody dressed provocatively is considered attractive, but social rules dictate that some things, like unprompted vulgar comments or staring for a prolonged period of time, are still rude. I don't care how a random woman walking down the street in a crop top and short shorts makes you feel, she's still a complete stranger.

Hard, but not impossible. Men and women both have unique talents and abilities, and can be written as such. Most of all, though, I'm tired or an all-male or all-white cast being seen as "not diverse", but an all-female or all-black cast is suddenly "diverse" even though it's just the same thing but "woke".

Women have the capacity to dress provocatively just because they like the way it looks, and not necessarily because they're fishing for attention. Well, that's pretty frustrating to see. Male-dominated spaces in general are often stereotyped and stigmatized as breeding ground for misogyny and other forms of bigotry, but personally that hasn't been my experience. Men are capable of having thoughts other than "women should be enslaved".
